Baltimore Boat Show this weekend

tcason -
Have you been this year? If so any good? After listening to some of the other threads from other locations they haven't been to impressed.

I have never been real crazy about paying to get into a show where I am going to buy something. I mean what am I paying for? Don’t need anything now, and not in the market for a “new” boat so I’m not going this year. Now there are a couple of brokerage boats that look pretty good right now.

I'm going to pass this year I went last year and was very disapointed Tha Baltimore show seems to get smaller every year If I rememebr the biggest boat they had last year was a 33 I could be wrong I am how ever driving to Jersey on Sunday to look at a 2001 310

Yeah, I am thinking the same thing. I went a few years ago and wasn't that impressed. I guess I can wait another 60 days or so and be on the water. Can't wait. I'll be happy again!!!!

I have not been up to Baltimore Show yet - snowing again in Montgomery County................ another DC panic in the works

I am not looking for anything bigger than 33 foot so that should not be an issue for me.

Interested in looking at Garmin 640 GPS unit - taking boat down ICW in May and this GPS would be helpful.

A couple years ago I did this same thread on the Annapolis show. Someone asked why I go, since I have a twenty plus year old boat and not likely to buy a new one.
I think he was a new boat dealer and calls people like me prop kickers.
After snow every week since New Years, I need to kick a prop.

I love the smell of new fiberglass in the morning.

Worst case scenario... I go spend an evening looking at new boats and then patronize a local establishment for the remainder of the night.

And the reason not to do this is.....?

(besides... Groupon had $5 boat show tickets a week or so ago)

Yea, while I still planning on spending my 20 bucks on a bottle of wine and spend the evening in the hot tub..... with or without the Admiral!

PS.... whats the body count up to in the city this year??

I'm looking forward to counting bodies as soon as I get to Fells Point....:smt043

I went on Thursday in the afternoon....it was great b/c it was a ghost town. Had the whole place to myself. Got to talk to a lot of vendors and see a lot of cool 21-24 center console fishing boats. Also was looking at PWCs. It is a small show but the smell of fiberglass and seeing clean boats really seems to brush away the winter fast.

BTW - they are charging to park in the camden yards free lot this year.

Last year the Camden yard parking lot attendant asked me if I was going to the boat show or Orioles Fan Fest. I told them the boat show and was charged $10. Found out a few minutes later that the Fan Fest parking, (In the same lot) was free. :smt013
Any way.
I got a free boat show ticket this year,so I'm going tomorrow.

Just got back from show.

Parking was a REAL hassle due to Orioles fanfest. Advice - Park in private lot close to inner harbor.

Show was worth going to. Was not really impressed with Sea Rays - cockpit layout focus seems to be on rear facing seats on most models.

Check out Grady White large "bow rider".

Overall it was worth spending a couple hours at Show.

Just got back from the show. It was OK but the 370 Sea Ray did not impress me. The cabin was just wrong, had to swing open a 3'x3' wooden door to get to the fridge. Opening that door took up the whole cabin. The hang up lockers are too small to hang a T-shirt in. I liked last years line up better.
BTW, I did not see the hospital ship USS Comfort in port. Has she been sent to some hot spot?

We did going anyway and my good friend Hans got the tickets for free for me. Thanks to Chris as MarineMax. Did not have to pay to park either…. Pretty cool! The show was OK but more of a social event for us as we met many of our friends there. Saw lots of pictures at the different booths of us and some of our adventures. By far the best part was having dinner afterwards with good friends. That was fun!

Here is one of the pictures at the MarineMax booth. My friend Ed and I are cutting up at one of the marina parties….. as usual. You know I did not sign a release, I wonder can I sue for a new boat?

xravenx, The largest Sea Ray of MarineMax line up was a 370. I'm really sure that was it. I'm not going back to the show to prove it, (it's not worth it).

The Sea Ray 370 and the Baltimore Boat Show are a far cry from what both were just a few years ago.
I think both reflect the changes in our economy.

We went Saturday, was alright not really that great of a boat show. Hate to say it but Regal was really on their game, the 42 was had a great design & layout. The Sea Ray's seemed to have a "corporate" feel to them, but still their quality & fit/finish was still better than most of the other manufacturers there.

What I did see was a new type of fake teak, I beleive on the Montereys? It actually looked more real than the newteak/flexiteak, but was more of a rubbery texture. Also looke like it would be extremely inexpesive - don't know who makes it but would like to get more info on it!
