I replaced my fuel filters several months ago due to starboard engine running rough. Starboard engine continued to run rough, now will not start. I examined the fuel filters and found the Starboard filter had a blackish cloud in it along with debris that looked like pieces of rusted metal. didn't appear to have any water in it. The port engine fuel was clean. The engines have less than 1 hour on them since I replaced the fuel filters several months ago. Not sure where to go from here. Pump out gas, test the gas, clean the tank, (aluminum), how do I test the fuel pump to make sure it has not been effected by the bad gas? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated 1999/7.4/MPI/340 Sundancer

Did you fill both gas tanks at the same time and from the same fuel source? If you did, from your description I'm guessing it isn't a bad fuel problem. If it was, your port engine would also be running rough and its fuel would also be dirty. I don't know where to tell you to look, but somewhere between the tank and the engine it sounds like you have something in there that's introducing a contaminate.

Let's hope Frank jumps in here with more expertise than what I have.

Only the starboard tank was contaminated. I ended up pumping out the gas, replacing the fuel filters and having the injectors cleaned. The engine runs well now. I now drive a little further and buy gas from the largest marina on the lake. Less chance of getting "Old Gas" or gas at the bottom of a tank
