My old Raymarine finally bit the dust, and I bought a new VHF radio from West Marine. However the newer radios are a little bit smaller than the old Raymarine was, and the cutout in the helm is a little too big for the radio. Does anyone make a plate to cover the extra space, or will I need to make my own?

Tecnografix in Florida and a sore sponsor does amazing work.

I have them available pre-cut to fit the Ray215 opening. They are CNC cut out of black ABS. I have a couple models already pre-cut for the opening for some models. If the West Marine looks like this it probably the Uniden OEM and I have that available.

I uploaded an image of the one I installed on my old 260DA. Several other CSR members have also used these. PM me if interested.

I bought one of Kevin's filler plates when my old Raymarine 215 crapped out. I had purchased a lightly used Ray 55 from another member here, but it was quite a bit smaller than the 215. I could not be happier with the plate Kevin sent me ...high quality and looks sharp IMO. Price is also very fair. Here's a photo of the install:

Kevin, do you have a plastics shop?

Thank you for the info. Kevin, what is the cutout size of your plates? My template states the cutout for my radio is 5 3/4" wide by 2 1/16" high. Also, my helm is pearl/white and my radio is white. Do you have white/offwhite ABS that would more closely match?

I believe the cut it what you are looking for. I am going to have to check on the white/off-white for UV stabilization. I will also PM you some images with the cut out.

Thanks,
-Kevin

I made my own from a piece of IPE and it really looks good. 3 coats of Helmsman varnish. Real pretty.
