Hey....John welcome.......Copiague here. I keep the boat behind my house..........You'll see us at Cedar Beach alot. We also have a dog thats with us all the time on the boat. Not to many dog friendly places on Long Island. Cedar is OK.....as long as the dog stays on the boat... ( while the dock master is around ).....
Any questions...........ask away !!!
hey jrock , as far as a chart for the gsb if your talking hard copies or electronic , we purchased a great hard waterproof large chart at local marine store not (west marine ) but they do sell them,as far as elec. we just installed a new garmin 4208 plotter w/ g2 vision card and wow!! we had a similar set up on our other boat you cant beat it it blows my factory raymarine plotter away good luck (cant wait till may 1st 2010)
Rock......You may be able to anchor out off a remote beach along Fire Island.... and wade in with the dog.....and get away with it. I've never done it......but when you go to a public marina......the dock masters usually have an issue with dogs.
But your right.....there are a lot of isolated beaches along the Island..........
be carefull of taking the dog to Fire Island. afriend of mine did that and got a summons to court and had to pay a big $500.00 in fines. Most of the bay side beaches are private property, state or federal.
