A fellow I know had a vibration problem. After three attempts by a Merc tech it wasn't resolved. Drive was removed everything checked, replaced etc. This boat is a 24' 1976 SR with a single 454 updated with B3 drive. He ran it this way through the summer of 2007 but worries of a breakdown while on Lake Superior took the fun out of things.
Early this summer while discussing his problem I brought up the prop alignment subject and referred to the experiences some on this board have reported. We realigned his props as suggested by some here. I forgot about it until a couple weeks ago, I asked him how his vibration was doing. He said it disappeared after we did the props and never came back..smooth as silk.
He's a happy fellow.
