2006 Bravo 3 cone clutch. 250 hours. Slippage was caused by wrong oil, not caused by other factors/damage. Was planning to tackle this myself but going in for surgery next week and will be out of service for about 1 month and that's cutting it too close with everything else I have to do. So what should I expect for a ballpark price to have a certified shop do this? Outdrive is already off the boat and in my garage and I can put it back on when they are done.

Thanks!

Why wouldn't you try the correct oil first? Couple of hours plus the part.
Did that last year. Shop sold me Sierra junk and it started slipping. Last year put the right Quiksilver in thinking along the lines you are thinking but still slipped

Talked to a shop today and gave them my OD serial number and they said the cone clutch is on backorder...ugh. He is going to try to track one down though

Likely but if I'm going to have them do the job I'll let him try first. He quoted $490 for the cone clutch and ballpark $500 labor but he did say he prefers me to take the boat to him so he can reinstall the drive to check everything and be sure it's right. I have heard very good things about this guy. I normally do 95% of my own work but with me having hernia surgery next week I'd rather make sure it is done than to take longer than the 4 weeks my Dr says then I'm late getting the boat ready. To me that's worth paying a little extra. It hurts but I have to swallow my pride here...lol
