My v drive is blowing fluid out of the dip stick? The dip stick fits in there loosely where the other one is pretty tight. I am getting another dip stick. My ? is does this make a difference in how the tranny works? Because once it started leaking it started acting different? Or is there something wrong with it to make it blow the fluid out? Just another problem to work on:smt021
Thanks
Bob

Don't get too concerned. Those BW trannies are really tough!

You do have to keep tightening the dip stick to get the rubber stopper to expand enough for a good seal though. Keep turning clockwise until tight.

A new dipstick will have a softer stopper that will expand more completely. Without a good seal, the pink fluid will squirt out!

But would this make a difference in how the tranny works? And sounds when it goes into gear?
Thanks
Bob:thumbsup:

They seem to build pressure when properly sealed. That might explain the different sounds. I had BW Velvet V-Drives on my last boat and they always "chattered" at idle speed. Sounded like someone put gravel in my trannys! Apparently it is a harmless sound to the tranny itself.

Please provide more details of your symptoms...

I dont have b/w trannys but, your problem made me think of the seawater cooled tranny coolers. If you have them. I would check to ensure the water and fluid arent mixing.

Thanks Jimmy Buoy. I didn't know that you could screw the stick down and make it tight! We are all good now:smt038
Thanks
