After much research on this and other sites, I am about to deal with the corrosion on my B-III. After, stripping , sanding, alodine and alumiprep, I will be painting with epoxy polyurethane but then the question is what type of antifouling (boat will be in Puget Sound for several months at a time). I need suggestions for a clear outdrive antifouling paint for my B-III...

TBT would do the trick but it was banned.
Now you need to be satisfied with having slowed or reduced fouling.

Call Russomarine.com to find out what they use. Sea Ray has advised against Trilux 33 because of the metal content. Russo used something else when I asked for Trilux 33 on my drive and it seems to be working pretty well so far.

Where did you read this?

It was presented at a dealer's meeting this year by Sea Ray according to the Russo Service dept when I asked for Trilux 33 on my drives.

I see in another thread dated 3/10 that you said Trilux 33 was the best paint for a BIII but now you say otherwise. Did you get new information or am I confused?

That was based on my research, however, I asked my Sea Ray dealer to brush it onto my drives for my spring commissioning and they would not because they were advised at a Sea Ray dealer's meeting this year not to use Trilux 33 on the BIII outdrive. This was apparently due to the metal content in Trilux 33 and and observed corrosion issues. Now, of course the BIII has been shown to corrode without Trilux 33 on it, so who is to say that the few bad samples they might have observed had corrosion due to Trilux 33 or corrosion due to the multitude of other causes. They recommended something else, and I went with it. I'm not sure what that was. It was a spray-on clear product. So far, so good, but we are not into the barnacle season yet.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just talked with Mark in service at RoussoMarine and he said they do use Trilux 33 on the BIII. When I told him about your boat being serviced there and said they would not use the 33 but used something else - he checked with another service manager and they confirmed the Trilu 33 is the antifouling paint of choice. Wierd...
