I had lost steering ability (similar TVM fault code) and it was determined by Mercruiser that the StRboard TVM (thrust Vector Module) was defective and had to be replaced. The cost to replace the unit was $15,883, I was advised that there were only 15 such units left in existence and to get one this had to be approved by Mercruiser. Mercruiser provided at their cost new power steering fluid filer units for each of the TVM units. The existing filtering units apparently filter the fluid after it goes into the TVM, the new filter kits provide filtering before the fluid goes into the TVM as this was described as the existing filtering system was a design fault and that by doing this would prevent any future damage to TVM(s). Our insurance claim was rejected because loss was consider a manufactures defect, our claim was for $23,500 all in with labor, taxes etc. Has anyone else experienced this type of issue or aware of this design issue??
