Away from the boat for one Month

Leave the batteries and the battery charger on. Possibly the AC set to a higher setting if you tend to leave that on, personal preference.

Agreed, minus the AC. I am not a fan of water moving thru the boat when I am away from it. I disconnect and remove the fresh water dock hose as well. I flip off all DC breakers, and leave on the AC Battery Charger breaker. I have cameras on the boat so I leave the AC breaker on as well. Every other breaker is off.

Love Bohickit BTW. I will be in Kiawah for vacation in a couple of weeks, I will check on your boat for you ;-)

Leave the whole boat powered up including ac. It will be fine and the ac keeps the dampness away. I always kept my Tiara that way.

Same boat… Whether I walk away for a few days or a few weeks, I do the same thing.
I turn off the head system, and the water pumps on the 12 volt side and the water heater on the 120v side. I also have a shut off on my dockside water hose inside the transom locker that I close in case my neighbors turn on my water at the pedestal to use my hose and then not turn it off when they are done. They’re good at doing that. I set both air conditioners to humidity control.
Tell your live aboard neighbor friends you’re leaving and to keep an eye on it.

This is exactly why I disconnect the dock water hose and store it on the boat every time I leave the boat

This. And I turn off everything electrical except the circuits for the refrigerators and battery charger. My AC strainer has a tendency to clog, sometimes after only a few days, so I keep the AC off unless I'm on board. I can tell by the sound it makes when it's starting to get clogged.

Being 10 minutes away and not much of a world traveler anymore I don’t normally stay away from the boat more than 3-4 days. I shut down all 12v circuits except the fridge in case the power goes out. Can’t have my beer and Bloody Mary mix getting hot. 120 side I leave the charger on and the A/C on. +1 to all of you on the dock water hose. I don’t disconnect it but I did put a 4 outlet “tree” on the dock side fitting for my dock mates to use, but I really like the shut off inside the transom locker. One less spot for me to fall in the water. Either leaning over the dock or trying to shut the valve reaching from the swim platform.
See post 1382 in the “Official 290 Sundancer” thread, the one for us ‘99 and up folks. Anyway my .02
Jon
Edit: I forgot that I leave the A/C outlets on as well, keeps the fridge on 120 if it’s there and keeps the portable ice maker chugging along.

On the AC, I believe most AC units have a dehumidify function which has a programed cycle so the unit is not continually running. When I'm away from the boat I just turn on this function and walk away.

Things I leave on:
Refrigerator.
Power Inverter.
HVAC in dehumidify mode.
I would like more info on this dehumidify function, how do I know if I have it? I have not seen any buttons that say it or is it one of those, “to enter press and hold all keys for not less than 15 seconds but not more than 16 seconds”

I was thinking the same, I was planning to check for this next time I'm on the boat. Along the same lines, does anyone put a small dehumidifier in their cabin when they're away for extended periods? I recently put one in my garage, which is not connected to the house, nor does it have HVAC and I can tell the difference.

I use two DampRid containers that take the tabs. I keep them out on the boat 24/7 and set them in the sink when underway just so they won’t spill. Works for me.

This is the one I bought for the garage, so far so good, super quiet and small

SEAVON Dehumidifiers for Home, 2200 Cubic Feet (215 sq ft), Portable Compact 27oz Capacity Quiet Mini Dehumidifier for Bedroom, Basements, Bathroom, Garage, Wardrobe Closet, Kitchen, Office, RV https://a.co/d/19mAsGl
How often do you have to empty it? The DampRid tabs last about 2 weeks with the A/C on and about 1 week with it off.

I switched to this one as it is a real unit with a compressor, not just a fan blowing over a cold plate. Drains right into my sink.
