went out yesterday and noticed the switch for my auto pilot on the dash was really hot to touch, is this normal? or should I pull the dash off to have a look at the connections at the switch?

I would look at the connections and probably replace the switch while it's apart. Dirty contacts create resistance and make heat.

Swapped it with the bilge light switch, same deal real hot after 10 mins on, bilge switch (old ap) is fine?

Put an amprobe on it and see what it's drawing. Make sure it's less than the rating of the switch.

Maybe you just never noticed it before?

the only reason I noticed it is because I turned it off then back on, hoping someone will check theirs after it's been on for a while...
