Auto pilot for 2000 sedan bridge 400

Guys i really think i need auto pilot on my new boat. I want to cruise at trawler speeds to save on fuel. Plus a little trolling. Which one should i get? Is it easy to install? Thanks

Simrad A/P. You really do need an A\P!!!! Trust me!

I'd get one that will easily interface with the electronics you already have on board, unless you plan to upgrade everything.

I agree auto pilot should have been standard equipment. I still have the original Raytheon package from 1999 and it works perfectly. What other electronics do you have and are they working properly?

Hi there, Auto pilot is very nice to have. I had a Simrad unit installed on my '99 400 Sedan Bridge in Febuary. I can tell you this, it is NOT easy to install. There is almost no room under there to work with and get to the steering and such. My mechanic had installed several on other boats and thought it was a piece of cake to do and would charge me $800 for labor. Man was he wrong. You just can't get n there. He finally called SeaRay and they said, oh the 400. Well you will need to haul it out, pull the gen set, exhaust, batteries, ect, to do it. He said f..k that and spent almost 3 days in there. Had to remove the batteries for sure and hired a littel skinny 4 ft something guy to get to the area. I came by a few times and he was supper frustrated and l could see only the feet of his helper poking out around gen set. He also had to custom fabricate a bracket to a get the thing to properly line up with the steering system.

We came to an ageement on the labor that neither of us were happy with but he did get it in.

Thanks guys, I still have the original raytheon radar and tri Guage. But have a garmin now as chart plotter.

So which one should I get?
