August in April!

Yup. Been doing bottom prep all day. Now in evening whiskey phase, sufting the net oj my ipod on the dock.

Tomorrow is wax day! (Porto cable don't fail me now!)

Mechanic runs in the engines on Thursday. Splash is Friday.

Saturday felt like an August day in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. Hans and his group and Sandy, Lacey and I took the day to cruise into the Inner Harbor. It was a fantastic day cruise for this early in the season.

The Pirate Ship made several passes at us with their water guns; I of course had to agitate them a bit. Later on the way out they had other chance.

So we ended up taking the kids out of school on Monday and we headed to the Hyatt on Sunday morning. It was a bit lonely out at the docks (that's me on the right):

But at least all the pools were open!

And there was no wait to play mini-golf or volleyball:

I even took the chance to pummel my 11 year old in a game of chess:

While my daughter violated the rules about not playing in the fountains:

My in-laws and my wife's uncle and aunt even drove down for the day to visit and the hotel was kind enough to ferry them around in their own private golf cart:

We were even blessed with a beautiful sunset:

and great weather for the ride home Monday afternoon:

What an awesome weekend. I'll take weather like this in April anytime! Come on summer!

I was pumped last weekend. We were putting a new floor in my buddies boat all day sunday and decided to run down to the beach and jump in afterwards. Surprisingly the water isn't THAT bad. Its got that initial "HOLY S@#! its cold" then when you get used to it its tolerable.

Then the boss and I got to lake test some jetski's on tuesday. Now its like 55 and cloudy. :smt013

Bill and Festivus thanks for the pics!!! Hyatt looked empty what a great day!! Sat. I should have been down at Inner Harbor on the boat, but was moving the remaining 5 yards of mulch to our flower beds.. We did make it out, sans children, on Monday for a short cruise and lunch at anchor... It was HOT on land but extremely enjoyable on the water... Bit breezy out on the bay on Monday which really cooled it down..

This weekend looks like a complete 180 from last weekend with the rain and what not...

Is this Cambridge? I have not been there yet, but do have a trip planned.

Yes, this is the Hyatt in Cambridge. And although I generally agree with Gary's complaints about the food, we have had good luck with the food and service at the main restaurant (I think it's called "Water's Edge"). It's pricier than the other restaurants on site but it's pretty good. Beware, the crab cakes are so-so at best... Gary, they've gotten somewhat better, but the are not true Eastern Shore crabcakes.

I have heard the Marina is very nice, but it’s is far away from anything else to do. But then again all I really need is a good bar!

To be honest if you're not motivated by pools, sliding boards, mini-golf, real golf, tennis, volleyball, game rooms and marginal restaurants, you may not like the Hyatt.

The marina facilities are nice enough (i.e. nice piers, good utilities) there is no bar nearby and it is a long, long walk to the facilities (we usually bring our dinghy to serve as a shuttle). Bottom line: if you don't have kids, this may not be the place for you...

That’s good to know, so I may need to change plans a bit. I was going to spend two days there while doing a weeklong trip around the bay. NO BAR… OMG that is not going to work at all. Thanks for the info.

So did the dock hands come out and rape you when you arrived?
No. No one was even at the marina. And we even managed to tie up in the slip all by ourselves.:smt038

I had called to confirm they were even open, and I was told to check in at the hotel, which I did. I never saw or heard from any marina personnel. I'm not sure they even charged me for the slip.

As good as last weekend was is as BAD as this weekend will be. Can't win 'em all! I'll be doing interior cleaning if anything. :-(

To be clear, there are two bars, but they are inside, hotel-grade bars made for business people on expense accounts. Not your typical Chesapeake style "come as you are" $1.10 for a beer type of places that I'm used to.

Well as I said, that's not going to work. I'll bet no bands playing "Sweet Home Alabama" either.

We wound up at the wine festival in St. Michaels last weekend with very nice slips at the Harbour Inn. It turns out that even members of the Museum had to pay about $69 to buy one small wine glass that enabled you to receive a shot of wine from the various vendors offerings. This seemed too rich for our blood, so we just drank the cheap wine we had aboard.

69$ for a glass for the wine tasting? Good Lord, did they really sell any of them? I think I will stick with Oregon Ridge and Carroll County Wine Fest.
