I know this has been covered in other posts, but unfortunately not in enough detail for an incompentent like me to figure it out. Can somone take me through the splitting of the 12V wire in order to hook up the Artec? I am having difficulty figuring out where I need to make the connections. I also don't know how to insert fuses (or if they are even necessary).

BTW, the guy at Radio Shack said it couldn't be done.

Typically the center post on the power plug is positive. A way to verify is to plug in the wall wart and check the plug with a meter. Given you stated you do not know how to insert a fuse I would get a buddy to wire it up for you.

Fuses can be added to the positive side by the use of an inline fuse holder and the correct wire size butt connectors. West marine or most marinas would have an inline fuse holder. Check the output of the wall wart and get a fuse the same size as the rated output.
