Happened at our marina last night. Captain fled and they are still looking for him. Unknown what contributing factors could have been involved in the incident, but I can think of a good possibility!

Be safe on the long weekend!

Luckily for others in the marina, the water level is slightly lower than normal. Those rocks are typically only about 1' higher than water level. Given the speed he must have been going, at a higher water level, he would have skipped over the rocks and pinballed off boats in the marina!

Dang, you'd pay at least $5 for that kind of ride at the fair!

What an idiot. Let's see....happened at night.....captain(?) fled after the accident.....makes one speculate about alcohol being involved.

I wonder if he pulled the usual stunt of going home, calling the cops and reporting his boat was stolen. Happens with cars all the time after someone wrecks one.

As Spicolli said in Fast Times at Ridgemont High

"My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it. "

I'm just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure he does not subscribe to the old saying of go no faster than you are willing to hit something while docking...
He must subscribe to the "Hey y'all, watch this" style of docking.

Buff Magic works wonders....

A member of a wealthy local family did something similar a few years ago. It was the source of a LOT of talk:

7-3-14 trying to outrun some lightning coming in quickly a 38' Tiara ran up on Sheep island in Boston harbor. i have no pictures of the boat on the island but do have some of it on stands 2 days later. 2 people were injured and the report over the vhf was that they lost their plotter and didn't know where they were. i'm guessing (knowing the area) they couldn't distinguish the lights on land from the nav aids and thought "MORE THROTTLE"

No, he just innocently went to get his brother to help him get the boat off the beach. No proof he was drinking now. Lol

(That story was used by a boater in IN a few years ago as he sunk his truck at the launch.)
