Asian Carp On The Way To Minnesota...

Electrocution!

It's the only way... Kill them all, Kill them all!!

(PETA won't like it)

The govt is going to spend 12 million on an experiment that has only shown 60% effectiveness? Even at 99.9% effectiveness, it is a failure. Even at 100%, all you need is some yahoo at night to catch a few carp and throw them in above the locks.

They really need to develop a disease or something specific to that species, sort of like feline lukemia, that they can spread among themselves and is 100% fatal.

It sounds like a bunch of typical political BS. These guys can't make a decision if their life was dependent on it. It's ridiculous. By the time they get off their *sses they will be watching these carp swimming in the headwaters of the Mississippi.

It's like what they did for Minnetonka and the zebra mussels. They just assumed it they were going to be in the lake sooner or later so why bother with trying to keep them out.

This is so frustrating!!!

Any one know what happens to them in Asia? Do they have a preditor? Bet polar bears would like them. But they would also eat people.

I doubt there is much of a list of predators. These things grow very large, very fast. I have seen the locals bow fishing them in the middle of the night. I've seen a 40 pound carp in a 35 gallon trash can. Nothing is naturally hunting that thing!

Sticking with the bear thing, Grizzilies would probably like them too!

The gov should put some $$ into stimulating commercial fishing of these things. They'd make good fish sticks for hungry folks and lots of safe fertilizer for the farmers.

Good idea Woody
In times when things were slow people used to put dead fish in the hole when they transplanted trees.
These fish would probably make good cat food.
Any young people looking for work this could be your chase to make it big. The government has given grants for items that were not as good as this.
Based on the number of them netting would be good.

When I asked him what the hell he was going to do with that thing, he looked at me like I was from another planet and said.... "Feed it to the hogs!"

How about a $1 a head and 12 million just disappear...

As I recall a few guys opened a fertilizer manufacturing plant somewhere down the Illinois.
Wanted to get a permit for another one and were turned down.
Also a guy up around Freeport, IL was buying them for processing and shipping back to Japan.
He cannot get enough of the Carp.

I too believe a $1.00/fish should be offered
