Guys, is it ME?

Take a look at this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Low-Priced-...bfdc65c0:g:gHMAAOSwAPlXgt7o&item=162132682176

Is this a dealer with more than a touch of arrogance?

Or is it just wishful thinking about his perception of value?

Or, could it be, maybe, it's ME that is out in left field here?? (Wouldn't be the first time! Just ask my wife! )

Love to hear your opinions about how YOU react to this offering!

That boat looks trashed. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Is does have an interesting way of marketing a boat he is looking to turn for a profit. What kind of a statement is "we can't find a qualified mechanic"? Selling a boat and you don't know if it runs?

Here's the kicker statement:
Progressive insurance did not deem it salvage due to the minimal damage.

Sounds like an abandoned boat with some damage. RUNNNNNNN

"We rebuild flood vehicles all the time as boats are meant to be in the water so if a flood car can run there is no reason a simple jump start, draining of some fluids should not get these two units to start right up."

So they're trying not to tell us she's recently seen action as a submarine?

I'd request the insurance report. progressive deemed it as something since they clearly wrote the claim number on the hull.

"Start bidding and best of luck!"
(Because if you buy it, luck and plenty of it is what you will need)

Electrical system nightmare if it has "seen action as a submarine"

Cool, it even comes with a trailer too.

It is being sold on a Florida State Clean title with a damaged 32-foot trailer which we purchased at an auction in Alabama. The winch is ripped off the trailer and one axle is damaged.

So you get a jacked up boat, and the bonus of a jacked up trailer to repair/replace as well. I can't imagine someone being so stupid as to spend money on this.....but then again.....

Several Boattrader listings of that model in the $60k range, so don't see how this is any kind of deal -- I guess maybe a bad deal.

Strange marketing strategy.
They should scrub the interior, shine it up in and out, put it back on the trailer, run the engines, and let the buyer know if it a boat or a project. The way it sits, with so many question marks that have potentially big $$ signs attached, that is a $20K vessel.
The seller's laziness, or attempt at deception, is costing them.

Yikes. Why not just part it out. I'll take the swimplatform, bow scuff plate and windlass if so equipped and operational!

Just to be clear Fellas, I have ZERO interest in the boat as a purchase, simply thought it would be a good topic to chat about. (And I think I was right!)

Don't get me wrong! I have made some DUMB buying decisions in my life. But none that would come close to THIS horror-show!

I was just kind of flabber-gasted at the price, but even MORE so at the "tone" of the listing! It sounds like the seller is telling anyone who would question the boat (especially anyone questioning the price) to go %$#@ themselves. NOT a great way to build a rapport of trust or open a dialogue about a potential sale!!

Anyway, I agree the boat's best use may be as a parts boat. I wouldn't want to take on this project even if I was a mechanic and could do all the work myself, including the interior and the other cosmetic items, not to mention the extensive laundry list of mechanical needs. There are boats (maybe this is one, maybe it isn't, but there ARE some) that aren't worth getting involved with even if they are FREE. Simple math will tell you on many projects that the cost of Parts + Labor will NOT = Good Deal When Done, and that is an equation where the boat doesn't HAVE an initial purchase price. I think this COULD be one of those for a guy like me who pays people to maintain/repair my boat. (Not apologetic about that either. My dad always said, may God rest his soul, "A smart man doesn't just know what he IS good at, he knows and admits what he is NOT good at.")

But, for those of you who can turn a wrench and stitch a seam, and solder a connection, is this a project you'd take on? And what would the purchase price have to be? For ME? After looking at that link and viewing those VERY telling pictures, the purchase price would have to be "Zero", and even THEN, I'm not so sure it makes sense!

Great quote never heard it put that way.

NO this is not a good project if sunk in Florida in salt water you'll find problems for years to come, it's parts boat worth whatever can be salvaged for parts the rest is scrap price by the pound plus paying to cut up the hull and dump fees.

They just ran a news story up here about flood titled salvage cars & how they do cosmetic fixes then ship them to a couple states or Canada with easy to transfer titles from salvage to a clean title. Problems usually don't show up for a couple years then your stuck with a salvaged piece of junk, in this state they re-title it salvage & pull the plates now you have a rusting boat anchor. Carfax has a class action suit against them right now over the re-titled cars.

Be interesting to see what that HIN # shows but I'm not going pay $30 for a report.

Looks like a sinker to me...

I like how he basically has no clue about getting it running but he sure did list in detail the hardware on the boat.

He knows it's a junker.

Run Forrest run....

This boat is listed on Copart, Bib of 7600.00 right now with water/ flood damage. Someone is a scammer !!

I never heard of that site before but as one of our members said "google is your friend!"

TRUE!

Take a look!

http://www.copart.com/us/Lot/24137356?searchId=1402192412

HOLY TOLEDO! (When was the last time you heard THAT phrase??)

So, is it a scam, or are they selling it in the hopes they can then win it and flip it at a huge profit? Seems risky since the buyer could likely back out! Their wording says they ALREADY bought it at auction....are they trying to sell it on that site too?

Love to know what's going on here!!

Edited to add: Look at their "repair estimate"!!! $7K??? YEA RIGHT! Find me someone who will put THAT boat right for $7,000, and I have a LOT of work for him!

there is a copart location a few miles from me. mostly wrecked cars but there is a houseboat there that has been sitting on a trailer for about a year or two
