I own some NVIDIA stock and have held it for awhile. I knew it was going to report it's earnings today and knew they were going to hit a home run so was not too surprised to see how well it did.

As of right now it's up almost 15.5% which equates to a gain of $104.00 per share.

Anyone else along on this joy ride?

I had it years ago when it was like $4/5 a share. Sold it because it was not doing anything. LOL

next door neighbor day trades too. he made $40,000 on NVDA a couple weeks ago. i only trade futures now so wasn't even watching it

Its been on my watch list for about 2 years. I sat the whole thing out. I've done very well over the last couple of years on other things, but this would have helped. DOOH!

I was in the mindset of this is a video card maker that was supplying cards to bitcoin miners and eventually that was going to hurt them.

Then it went on a rocket ride!

Next door neighbor made $16,000 on calls he bought a few days ago. He had SPY, IWM and SLV calls. On Feb 5th he sent me a screenshot of NVDA calls he paid 12.83 for. Sold for 31.92 each. Made 316%. He must have bought 100 contracts cause his cost was $12,832.50. He sold for $53,500. I think he bought them around January 29th or so.

I bought some NVDA and SMCI stock mid January, and sold both this morning just before lunch. Almost tripled my money!

A buddy of mine is a RIA and manages a small portfolio for us. Last August he bought NVDA at $484/share and I thought he was nuts. Shows you what I know!

We purchased 200 shares in 2020 and have held them. This stock stands out in the portfolio right now.

We own it but only as a small part of a fully diversified portfolio. It triggered a wider rally yesterday. Not a flash in the pan but I would not go wild on it. Overweighting on an individual stock is not a good idea.

sbw1, you are preaching to the choir. I'm a retired financial advisor and NVIDIA is only one of 33 different investments I am holding.

That being said, your advice is spot on!

My cost on the NVIDIA is $252.

One of the best moves I made when I retired was to convert my 401K to an IRA, then immediately convert it to a Roth IRA. That was back when Pres Bush had passed the "Reconciliation and Recovery Act" that made it possible to do that Roth conversion and spread the tax liability over two years instead one.

So now, if I ever sell NVDA it will be a tax free sale.

I have a friend who is a professional investor who is quite successful. His portfolio’s consists of 40 stocks. I asked him why he owns just 40 stocks. Response was “That is the number of stocks I can follow closely.” Makes sense to keep things managable.

Been dabbling in NVDIA and SMCI. Also just bought into BLDR, which seems to be doing pretty well.

The only stock I know anything about is the stock yard. I ate at a Sonny’s BBQ last night - the brisket was on time
