I'm looking for some nice spots to anchor for a weekend. I would prefer sticking reasonably close to Richmond, but I'm open to heading down towards Williamsburg. I can take the little boat out exploring, but would rather get some good advice first and not waste a ton of time searching for spots. Thanks!

Hate to bump it, but really looking for some decent places to anchor out. My boating season starts in earnest next week.

The places you'll find everybody going is either the gravel pit or skinny dip.

For Sunday morning coffee and paper I go to Jamestown beach and go to the 4H Club end of the beach. There are many nice spots in the Chick up near the mouth. Across the other side from Jamestown there is a beach where you can go hunt for sharks teeth if you have kids

I was going to scout the channel for Skinny Dip the other week, but there was a "Do not enter" sign. Was I in the wrong place, or do people just ignore it?

I'm hoping to find some spots upstream, closer to Richmond than to Williamsburg. Guess I'll keep looking.
