Are SeaRay's that excellent

I am a 2003 410 Sundancer and I am a water vessel. Any of my "rotten" water motors that are encased in fiberglass have not shown themselves to be defective yet...

Welcome to the forum :smt043.
Are you sure you didn't buy a boat that was sunk by hurricane Sandy and then patched up just good enough to sell? Are you sure it's a Sea Ray? Are you sure you really want to be here? :smt043 Oh, an' where's your pictures? :smt043 Oh, and what did your surveyor say about all this? :smt043

I am a 2004 22' Sundeck and the list of problems with the boat is longer than a grocery list.

Congratulations on learning how to write.

Parts can be fixed but the labor involved is very expensive because it seems, although Brunswick has claimed they picked out top of the line components, they then sealed the fiberglass around all the parts making it quite difficult to work on.

Yes, if they hadn't done that then you wouldn't be a boat would you?

Gauges die, radios die, alternators die,

Usually only on vessels that have been under water.

bilge pump rot out,

it takes roughly 1000 years for a bilge pump to "rot"

steering mechanisms bind,

everything that's been submerged in salt water will bind

water motors both for the engine and the fresh water rot out

Bummer, you should have bought one with a "marine engine" in it. Ya just can't trust those water motors, they're really prone to rust.

and trim sensors are faulty.

I agree. I had to replace mine after only 14 years. Unbelievably cheap eh?

Unfortunately, most companies stand behind their products- the nastiness and holier than thou attitude when you finally reach them is atrocious for the prices they charge.

Maybe they think there's something wrong with you.:smt017

This is the last water vessel that I ever purchase from them.

Yea, I hear Bayliner makes water vessels that are able to sit on the bottom of the bay forever. You really need to talk to those people.

We just bought our first Sea Ray in March and couldn't be happier. Although it's a 2001, it had an in-depth marine survey done before hand and the previous owner took very good care of the boat. We found a lot of very small things that were relatively minor and easy to fix. We expected that coming into this boat. People have always told me that Sea Ray is the Mercedes of boats. They are top dog. We've certainly seen that in the quality they use to design the boat. We looked at a few Maxums and the quality was extremely cheap, especially when compared against Sea Ray.

However, like others have said, you have to take proper care of a boat for it to stay in good condition. That goes with anything really.

Mercedes may be a bit strong. SR is a well executed mid range boat in all reality. Not cheap , not extremely high end. When I describe my boat to non boat owners I usually use Lexus.

Why did I look at this? Still nothing from OP?

All of you need to back off. It is not a boat owner posting but the ACTUAL BOAT ITSELF is posting. Damn boat must have got ahold of the keyboard....

See. This is why I don't trust computers on boats. They're starting to take over. I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I've spent all weekend looking for my water motors to no avail. Must not have been invented in 1990 yet. Or maybe they've just rotted away.

Well then that settles the matter of SeaRays being the Mercedes of boats. Anyone with experience with German cars knows they own YOU, not the other way around. They tell you what to do, when to do it and that you probably did it wrong. Giving a German car or a SeaRay internet access and a keyboard is just plain crazy.

WOW WEE! Like Frank said, hell of a first post. Where did he go?

The synch gauge on mine broke, got another one off eBay, lasted 12 months and the needle fell off that too. Had to replace the TV antenna, as we went digital, 4 new exhaust elbows last week. New house batteries.

And now your telling me I have to go looking for water motors, and the boats only 20 years old!!

The OP has not even logged in to CSR since yesterday morning when he started the thread. So he has not had a chance to see the overwhelming response yet unless he came here and didn't log in.
