Who's going to Lake Lanier for the aquapalooza July 16-18? The wife and I are going for the 1st time. Just wondering what it is like.

We will be there. I am out of Bald Ridge and I would suspect we will get and early start. This will be my first as well but I have heard how crowded they can be.:smt101

With the way some people boat on Lanier I want to get there early and drop anchor and stay put!:wow::thumbsup:

We went to the one in MD two years ago when Taylor Swift was the headliner and it was crazy crowded.. used to live in Buford, GA and so I know what you guys are talking about.. that lake scared the crap out of me.. seemed every weekend 1994 - 1998 someone was getting killed on that lake.

Guys, it gets pretty full quickly and most people that want a good spot, spend the night the night before. With the new docks at Sunset Cove, it should be alot easier. I am assuming that they are having aquapalooza at the same spot as the last few years. We just got back from the Dominican Republic so we haven't been on the lake for a couple weekends. Please say hello if you see us. We monitor 16 and 68 and the vessel name is Cocktail Time.

I've signed up just sure if I'm going to hit Lanier or Allatoona or maybe both. I think Allatoona is the following weekend.

I'll be out there...also a first timer. You're probably right about setting anchor the night before for a good spot. I'll try to go out early Sat morning from Bald Ridge too; I'm aleady expecting to be farther out...but marine max is scheduled to run a water taxi... so that might work out ok...

How do they decide who ties up with who? Is it a first come basis? Do you think Friday night or Sat AM would be the best time to get there? We would also like to meet some new people on the water.

Gary,

It's first come first serve in a big crescent shaped line close to the beach. Then there are smaller raft ups spread out through the cove. I'm sure Robert and I will be out there and you are more than welcome to tie up with us. There is a water taxi to pick people up and we will probably bring our dinghy too.

I think we will go out on Friday night. I figured we will load up and drop anchor and just stay through Sunday. We would like to meet some new folks too so you are all welcome to tie up with us as well. We may even ditch the kids with Grandma and then it will be just us 2. Plenty of room!:smt038

Yea, it's first come first served. I have been the last 3 years, but only got there Sat evening. Had to anchor out to about the third level. However, one word of caution, that particular cove has a lot of "debris" in it. Not sure what, but last year experienced fouled anchor situation along with others, that took a lot of work on Sunday afternoon to clear. Just a heads up!

We've been the past 3 years as well - get there early if you want to get on the front line by the beach - otherwise, you will have to get the water taxi to take you in - not sure how the new dock will change things, though-

Moose- which dock are you on at Port Royale? We are on Dock 12

Planning on making an appearance! This will be our first year as well. Is it required to sign up and if so where do you do it?

To Hoard. located on dock 3. We will try and make it, but it will be Sat evening before we get there. Boat name? We are "Mutual Fun Too". Hope to see y'all.

What happens during an event like this if the weather turns ugly (thunder storm with wind)? How do the organizers plan for this? Just curious....it looks like it would be a blast.

It's almost here. Who is going and when are you going. The wife and I are going Friday night.

The Allatoonista's will be wishing you guys good weather and safe travels. You are all invited to come visit the following weekend on Allatoona. I doubt the plans are enticing enough to justify a haulout, but if you are trailering, please consider yourselves invited.
