Aquapalooza Kelleys Island

We were planning on going but it is Christmas in July at PIB. If we go to Kelley's for the afternoon, there is no way we will get on a mooring ball Sat night. Still trying to decide when we need to go to PIB to get a mooring ball. I have been told if I go 1st thing Sat morning I won't get one. Any advice? I have company coming to CP Friday night otherwise I would leave Thursday.

have you exhausted all the other possibilities? If you know anyone already at docking at Millers who would let you raft, Kenny will arrange it.

The "Put In Bay Marina" or whatever they're calling the former Ladd's got a slow start. Three weeks ago they were nearly empty. It's a long shot, but if you haven't tried yet, it's at least worth a phone call.

I'm afraid I agree with the mooring ball situation on Saturday. I blame sailboaters.

Or you could remove your cockpit carpit and stash it safely at home, buy a bunch of "No Smoking, you idiot" signs and a water balloon launcher and endure the public docks...

As I understand it - if the Crew's Nest has vacancy - they will let in non-members. I'm heading over Sunday PM (after the Christmas Parties) and was able to get a place at the Crew's nest and I'm not a member.

How many nights did you get at Crews Nest? I thought they had the ILYA Regatta in next week. We planned on staying at Kelleys Sat night and trying to get into PIB Sunday for a couple nights. Does anyone know which city piers ILYA has reserved? I think they were at A and C last year.

Reservations from Sunday - leaving Friday AM. Really don't plan to be there that long - but that was how I booked it.

Crew's Nest will even accept advanced reservations from non-members Sunday-Thursday. However, Friday and Saturdays are members-only.

I agree. I don't think you'll get a mooring ball on Saturday morning. The only think left on Saturday will be the public docks.

Here is the latest from MM-Catawba Island. We are planning on taking a ride over.

The weather is going to be beautiful. We will see everyone tomorrow at

We will be there. They also have Islandfest going on this weekend according to kelleysisland.com. Not quite Christmas in July but not as tough to get a dock either. Let's hope for a flat bay and no storms.

Well, sorry we missed Aquapoluza but we got a dock Friday night at PIB. We headed over knowing that we may be on the hook for the night, but we were able to get a great spot at Fox's right across from C dock. We were the 4th boat on the raft so no one was walking across the boat. The guys at Fox's were great.
No one got hurt, only a few brain cells lost!
How was Aquapoliza?

Aquapalooza was a good time. The bay was calm until the raft was about 40 wide and the wind started folding us into a U shape. A couple more anchors were set and all was well. I would guess about 60 boats showed up. The party broke up at 4pm when they showed up to pick up the barge. The sandbar party @ Bay Point on Sat 8/2 was GREAT. Same barge from Aquapalooza anchored in 3 ft water but with an band and a dance floor with a brass pole. About 500 boats converged. Great time!

I got to the north side that day around 2 and just threw an anchor. Looked like a great time.

Missed that one but some friends were there and said it was a blast.

Anyone know the schedule for if/when the barge may be out there again??

Randy & Bill,

We were there also - much better than last year when high winds forced it to SeaWay Marina. Too bad we couldn't meet up. Here are some more pictures. Keep us posted on future get togethers at the sand bar! Sounds like a good time.
