I think I can focus on work for one more day before having to just call it a week and start getting ready for our trip Thursday.

I'm going to miss it.

Have fun, but watch the depths near the "Sandbar". Chart datum isn't very reliable in areas where sand meets a lot of wave action...

On top of that, people somehow mistake the HUGE towering range markers as "buoys". On Sunday, either a guy in a 355 Carver did just that, or he just wanted to scrub all of his bottom paint off the easy way. (there were two towboats positioning to pull him, while people were wading alongside the boat)

Rollercoatstr...you're makin' me nervous...ha ha...appreciate the advice.

We are planning on being there unless the weather takes a turn for the worst. We will be launching from the Shelby Street Boat Launch in Sandusky on Saturday morning.

Buckeye Boater, I am launching Friday from East Harbor state Park and have a slip reserved at Cedar Point. Feel free to raft up if you spot me!

Where the heck are these range markers?? I don't recall these? I'll be launching from Shelby on Thursday afternoon.

The sandbar peninsula dips to the south into Sandusky Bay from Marblehead. If you've been there before, you either anchored on the inside,(west) between Johnson's Island and the sandbar, or on the outside/east, open to the north end of the bay and the lake. The west side is more protected and deeper, but the bottom is mushy and there's no beach. The east side has great sand and a great beach, but isn't protected and the sandbars can make keeping the props wet a little tricky.

There is a pathway to get from side to side through the brush and trees.

The rear, inbound range marker is just off the south-eastern tip of the peninsula. I didn't mean to scare anyone - I can probably assume that all CSR members know not to look at 66' of metal sticking out of the sand and think "gee, it must be deep there". :smt021

There ARE small buoys marking the shallowest area, but if you steer clear of the range light and the extended area to the north of it, you should be ok.

Oh! I see. Yeah, I remember those now. I believe the Aquapalooza will be held on the west side between Johnson's Island. I think that would be a safer bet for rafting up.

If the weather is nice we may cruse over and check it out. Although we did not fill out our paperwork with Marine max.

Hello guys & gals!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is this event?
We will be in the area this weekend- we're staying at PIB for XMas in July, and might motor over from there, just wondering what the occasion is (other than a great excuse to party)?

Go to Marine max web site and they have a explanation of the event

Thanks for the info!

We'll be commuting between PIB, Middle Bass, & East Harbor for various events, pick-ups and drop-offs, so if we get a chance Saturday, we'll try to swing by for a couple of hours.

We don't have a name on our boat yet, but we'll give you a shout on Ch #16, Quint4 if we get near.

Cheers!

Randy

Just an fyi if you guys are just going to be talking or looking for each other on 16 the CG doesnt appreciate unnecessary chatter. They'll let you know too.

Yea Zorba your right, I wasn't going to say anything when I seen that but they need to use a different channel. I use channel 68 normally and have some friends on 10 as well. 16 is emergency channel monitored by coast guard.
