I would like to find out more about Brookville Lake (Indiana), as this appears to be the closest body of water to a potential job opportunity.

I beleive that this is the US Army COE created this lake, and there appears to be at least one marina (Kent's Harbor Marina) on the lake.

I would like to know more about the size and type of boats on the lake, how crowded it gets on a routine (non-holiday) weekend, and whether private docks are even permitted.

Thanks!

that's were I boat mostly ( 1 hr from my house ) too small for your boat but a great little lake. 3 marinas ( one with a good restaurant, bar, & marine store ) 2 beaches, some good no wake areas to anchor in. DPVandy01 can tell you all about Ohio river boating around Cincinnati. Here's a shot of some friends being pulled behind my last boat..last summer at Brookville.

Thanks for all the info. I agree that our current boat would not be a good fit. The appeal of Brookville Lake was the possibility of being minutes (rather than an hour or more) away from the boat - we are spoiled by the facilites at Prince William Marina and the proximity to our house.

What is the boating like on the Ohio River? Our experiences on the Potomac River are enjoyable, but we are looking forward to stretching our legs on the Chesapeake Bay (and beyond).

That being said, I am putting the cart way before the horse as far as any move even taking place.

Again, thanks!

Lake Monroe, Bloomington Indiana, isn't too far (hour or so?) from Brookville. Still nothing like the great lakes. A 45 footer would be one of the larger boats on the lake, but you'd have some company. Fourwinds Marina has the facilities for something that size.

I just got back from Monroe today, and met up with another CSR member, Mr. Happy yesterday. You'd be the largest boat on the lake, and if I were you I'd keep it on the Ohio River, that'd be way to much boat for Monroe. I know there is a new Cruisers Yatchs 447 on Monroe...I was anchored next to him a few weeks back.

Nice to finally meet you firecadet. I agree with firecadet, your boat would be one of the largest on this lake besides houseboats. Our lake is 10,000 acres. There is a new 47 Sea Ray Sedan Bridge on the lake, way too much money for our lake. It is only 1 mile wide by 12 miles.
