After seeing my once very competitive rates with NBOA creep up the last couple years, I decided to give Boat US a chance. They came back and can save me a few hundred a year across policies for my Sea Ray and Whaler, providing essentially the same coverage levels. They actually offer a "Multi Boat Discount" and their membership covers all your boats whereas NBOA charges extra per boat. Getting ready to make the switch but just wanted to see if anyone has any comments about them. The underwriter is National Liability and Fire Insurance Company.

Thanks
Jason

I had them a couple of years ago. I had no claims so I can't speak on their service. The last year I had them they raised my premium. It almost doubled. I called them and they gave me a song and dance about Hurricane Sandy. So now I have NBOA and the premium is much less then what Boat US was giving me.

Both my boats are insured by Boat US. (National Fire). Had 1 claim, handled perfectly.

They also write a Rider policy for me to cover my boat while in the Bahamas islands, for my family trips. They use common sence also. Meaning their policy to cover boats crossing the gulf stream to the Bahamas is 30+ ft, and twin engines. They make an exception for me to take my single engine 24ft boat, due to my experience, and also cross with a "flotilla" (2 or more boats going to the same destination).

So, I'm satisfied with their coverage, and boating friendly knowlege and common sence attitude toward coverages.

Have had boat us for 5 or so years. Have agreed value but no claims but so far, so good.

started using them this year when we moved the boat to Lake Norman....no claims yet......

Great service and no hassle. I had a big grounding in the Keys claim, (don't ask). Made one phone call within minutes of the event, and they took care of everything.

After regaining my wits, I requested the boat be towed ~100 miles north to a facility closer to home so I could over see repairs, and they had the south bound tow turn around in route. My premium went up for the following year, but then returned to my previous claim free level. They even paid the $2700 assessment for disturbing the sea grass.

Strongly recommend!!!

I used Progressive for the first 3 years I insured my boat but when they kept raising my rate each year despite me filling no claims I switched to Boat US and have been with them 2 years and I'm about to renew with them for my third.

I haven't had any claims but I did run over a crab trap ($%^! nuisances) in the Mississippi inter-coastal waterway a couple of years ago which wrapped around my stern drive. Boat US sent a rescue boat piloted by Captain Ron who spent over an hour in the water with wire clippers getting me going again and I didn't pay a dime. My rates have stayed right around where they were when I first signed up too.

That's amazing that you can get to the Bahamas from NC. How long a trip is that. Straight line seems to be about 500 miles, but obviously you are skirting he coast...or trailering to Florida then Cruising over??

Trailer to Stuart, Florida, spend the night, run across the stream to Grand Bahamas, West End, clear customs, take on fuel, jump across the little Bahamas Bank to the Abacos........ahhhhhhhhh! Enjoy
