OK, so I've seen the spots for SuperFlush on the Ship Shape TV shows, and as a one man operator of my boat, kind of like that you don't have to close the seacocks, or even start the engines once you get the system installed. Also like how it has a way to increase the pressure to really clean out the engines, and can be used for inboards as well as outboards. I was at the West Palm Boat Show this weekend and saw them in a booth and it does seem like an easier way to flush, and each engine would run $299.00...

Just wondering if anyone had any feedback or experience with this system.

Thanks

Barry

I watched their commercial: http://www.superflushsystems.com/cms.php?id_cms=18 and it seems as if it would be better than nothing. Last year I installed Volvo's Neutra Salt System onto my Mercruiser Bravo III. I bought the complete system online for under $100 from a place on Long Island, NY it took only a few hours to install. I saw the tests Neutra salt performed with a nail in plain saltwater another in saltwater with Neutra Salt but did my own test and it worked, the Neutra salt reduced the rust/corrosion dramatically. I'm hoping this increases the life expectancy of my motor/manifolds/risers etc..., only time will tell I suppose. Disclaimer I do not work for Volvo, Neutra Salt, nor do I sell boat parts.

I have 2 installed on my current boat and had it installed on my previous boat. Used to be at $199 it was well worth the expense, with them using quality brass fittings and ss hose clamps. Now at $299, they've cheaped out with plastic fittings and cheap chinese made hose clamps. The concept is still very good and the system functions great but not sure it is worth the $300. I ordered two for my current boat and asked them what was upgraded to warrant a $100 increase. They spoke of the great new high impact delrin fittings (aka garbage), which I changed out for brass ones I had a heck of a time finding. They did however offer me a special returning customer price of $199 each. The weakness in this system are those plastic fittings. Very easy to snap off at the threads, easy to strip and easy to cross thread. Since I had to install the block fittings by feel, I never got comfortable about tightening them. last thing I needed was to snap the threads off into the block. Now that I changed out all of the fittings and hose clamps the system is very sound. 5 minutes to flush with a garden hose, 5 minutes to winterize with a hand pump. One last thing to note, they have horrible customer service.

What is the difference between this system and the hose connection that comes on motors today.

I had an MST Guardian system on my last boat (same company, new name) and I really liked it. I agree with SteveRuss on the plastic, but it is what it is. I have two systems sitting in my basement ready to be installed this spring.

Don, I sent you a pm on the volvo flush. Rocco

From what I understand, and what makes it attractive to me, is that the way it is now, you have to shut the seacocks, connect the hose, quickly start the engine and run to turn on the hose and let it flush with the motor running. Also you are only getting the strength of the wash from the hose, the pressure is not being amped up so to speak. Then you have to run and turn off the hose and then the engine and then open the seacock, and do the same on the other engine (if you have twins like I do). With the Superflush from what they say, you don't shut the seacocks and don't start the engines, and the turbine connection increases the strength of the water flow and does a better job of flushing out. I agree that the $299 is a little high and when I was at the boat show I was surprised they didn't even offer any boat show discounts, as if they would have done the $199, I would have bought 2 right then and there...

I have 2 installed on my 280DA. Their "Spaceage" plastic manifold is brittle and the barbs have broken off. Maybe "Sputnik" is a better description. No response from customer service, either telephone or email.

You can piece together a much better system from your plumbing supply store for about $60, which is what I did after being unable to acquire service parts

With that said, the manifolds are what is really getting flushed. The block is full of seawater, and none of the flushing systems are removing that seawater unless the Tstat is open, which it isn't with the engine off
