Anyone Signed up for the Caladesi Getaway?

Thanks. Might have to come check it out from the Gulf side. Always looked like a fun party.
Since there's only a handful of slips for big boats; how do they allocate them- first come?

We were getting ready to load up the boat and head down there around noon on a Friday a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately I called (at my wife's insistence) and found out the big slips had just been taken by a boating club :(. I had a courteous gripe session with the ranger about the inability to reserve a slip and she agreed it's a problem, but there seems to be no solution. When they allowed reservations, boaters would book them for weeks on end, "locking them up" whether they came or not. Sure wish there was a fair way to deal with the problem..
I've always wondered how MM pulls this off. It's a State Park, they no longer take reservations for slips , so how does MM get to "own" the place for the weekend at the expense of everyone else?
 
From my understanding MM paid for the wet slips to be put in. So they set this up as a stipulation before the slips were built. I've heard this from a few people when we stayed out there.

actually I'm not sure that you actually need to have bought you're boat from MM. I think the rule is you need to be a "Customer". If you buy parts from them or have your boat serviced by MM; you are technically a customer and should be in their computer system. I know this cause a couple of years back I was a slip mate to some folks who had a late 80's 290DA and I don't think they bought it from MM; but they did get it serviced by MM.
 
Caladesi is just 2 weeks away, who's ready?

I got my electronics upgrade done. hook up for the IPod to jam out on the 3 hour cruise. I got the new GPS chart plotter in to guide my way. The new TV is installed in case I need to hide out in the Cabin due to a rain out (might add a cockpit mount before the trip, not sure yet) and the New Drive shower is in place to keep the sterndrive nice and cool on the long trip.

Now I just need to stock up on Booz, water, & Some food.
 
I got my slip assignment Dock A Slip 30. Where's everyone else at....
 
I had to bail. My oldest daughter's team signed up for a softball tourney, so I'll be there with her. And, Saturday night, my youngest is getting a Student of the Year award from the Chamber of Commerce, so we kind of have to be there.

Having 3 kids makes it impossible to get the boat out.
