Anyone Signed up for the Caladesi Getaway?

When is it? I'm still keeping the boat down in Punta Gorda, not that I need a wet slip for it. I've actually never been to Caladesi Island.

Maybe if a bunch of people from here are going I'll bring the boat back up here for it, or maybe I'll just hitch hike :)

May 16th-18th. I'm in. Always try to do this as my one.

the best part of going is spending friday and Saturday Night's out on the island. if you don't plan on spending the night, then just crash the party from the western beach side of the island.

I don't really have the boat for spending the night ;)

Sure you do, if you add the shore power option and like to camp out.

Somehow I knew you'd be along

Your an exception to the rule I think. Like you I'd be camping alone, the admiral don't camp.

if you don't overnight, then you just come out on sunday, anchor off the beach, and wade in. when we had the 185, we took that route a couple of times. i don't think you have to register if you only come out on sunday.

But I think if you want the freebies and food you have to signup

but Morph;

why pay $150+ for a slip at Caladise. if you don't get to sleep over, don't get breakfast on Saturday & Sunday Morning (coffee and Paper included), the Seafood Boil on Sat night, or the advantage of getting absolutly wasted with 100 to 200 of you're neighbrohood Sea Ray owners.

honestly if it wasn't for the drinking that takes place after the last ferry leaves the island in the evening I probably wouldn't bother. Also many of the folks that come out for the weekend leave by noon on Sunday.

I would recommend doing what I do. Come out and camp out for the weekend and pick up the wife and kids each morning from homeport marina. I usually send the MM Mates on their Boston Whaler over to get the wife, kids and associated friends that come out.

I got my confirmtion from MM; I'm on the list. I might try to see if I can get on D dock on the inside. I have more fun on D Dock.

No what I'm saying is I believe if you don't sign up and just crash you won't get food or shirts or anything from MM not just talking about getting a slip.

true; you do have to sign up for the "free" stuff; but I',m not sure that it's free. it's part of the whole package. you'll need to get with MM and see if you can sign up for the free stuff without getting hit for the 2 night 3 days slip fee.

I think you can show up and if you know one of the sales rep they will take care of you. I have a friend who just moved his 35' Doral to Marker 1. He really likes it there and I just moved down to Homeport because of the $100 a month cheaper, plus I can go down to my boat anytime.

Do any of you know of a good canvas person? I had a vendor friend of mine who is friends of the owner of Great Lake Boat Tops and bought a new cockpit cover, but will need someone to install the snaps.

So the Caladesi trip isn't until May?

Suncoast mobile canvas Marine Inc.

this guys did the new custom boat cover for my 240DA last year. did a great job. total job was around $800. Did all the measurments onsite, has a trailer he works out of, installed new snaps where he needed and used the old ones where he could, Installed vinyl backing along all the seams and any where the canvas touched the boat vinyl so that mildew would not start and did it all in 1 afternoon.

when I get some money and the old clear vinyl finally gives out this guy will be doing the replacement.

technically, yes. to get a marina slip, definitely. to anchor offshore on sunday, wade in, and have bar-b-q, you might get away with it, if you are in a sea ray.
