I was wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to seatrial or negotiate the purchase of the new 2012 410 SDA? I know they are just starting to enter showrooms and just wondered what other think of Sea Ray's new 410 if they have had the chance to physically see or run the boat.

I ran one last fall at Yacht Expo. It is a great performing boat, safe solid and very typical for a Sundancer. Sea Ray long ago figured out the mid cabin express syle design and they just don't make mistakes. This isn't a criticism, but more of a preference........I'm accustomed to the 2003ish 410DA and this is a lot smaller boat than I was expecting. Also, I am not a fan of the aft seating/sunpad because it makes the cockpit seem crowded. Finally, as introduced, Zeus is the only power option. There was some talk about offering the Zeus package as an option with v-drives standard. Zeus makes this a real expensive boat; my opinion is that v-drives would be more dependable and substantially reduce the selling price. I understand that these boats are selling very well......in fact at Yacht Expo, the only one available for the show was already sold borrowed from a customer for Expo.

Frank, from what I have seen, I agree with some of your points. They are offering 425 hp diesels with v-drives as standard propulsion. Colony Marine is getting theirs in next week and I will finally have a chance to physically set foot on the boat.I have been in the market for a 40 SDA for the last 2 years and have yet to find the right combination of color, diesels and options. I was looking forward to the new 410 but the price and certain design issues may negate that boat as a choice.

I have seen 2005 420DA's that can be had for a great value with good propulsion and very low hours. For $250K or so you can get a boat like this with low hours. My 410DA is the same LOA as the new 450DA so the 410DA is more like a 380DA in LOA. I have a nice layout but a friend has a 2005 420 and although it is no larger it is sexier and better appointed.
