I am looking at replacing the stock rear speakers on my 195 Sport and noticed that the stock Panasonic speaker cut out is 5.5 inches in diameter.

The speakers I am looking to install require a 5 1/8 cut out so I was wondering if the stock cut out will be too big for the aftermarket speakers I am considering (Kicker speakers).

That said, has anyone else out there replaced their stock speakers without modifying the stock speaker cut out?

I am very familiar with car audio. And a little knowledgeable on marine audio. Normally, speakers come in 5.5" or 6.25". The diameter of the cutout is usually a little smaller. If your cutout is 5.5" and not less, you will have to shop for that size speaker with a large lip or go for a 6.25 and cut the hole out a little more. I would be surprised if the cutout is exactly 5.5 though.

coolings-

Are you sure about those numbers? I thought most speakers come in 5.25" and 6.5". Furthermore, if you pull up just about any site that has marine speakers, you will notice that most 6.5" speakers require a cut out that is 5" or slightly larger. That is why I was asking if anyone has replaced thier stock speakers with a similar sized speaker without having to modify the cut out.

I replaced mine on my 185. I used the Kicker marine speakers KM620 '09...the cutout was tiny bit bigger than needed but all mounting screws except for one worked. the one that didn't I just glued it in. The speakers are fine and work well. Hope this helps.

You are right. I had it backwards. I would recommend looking through information on crutchfield.com. I noticed a kicker speaker that requires a 5 1/8 cutout. Another option is to place wood behind the cutout and screw into that. It should still look clean and you shouldn't even be able to notice.
