Our '04 240da was ordered without the microwave (got a cabinet with sliding door in place of it) and I'd now like to add a microwave. An alternative to mounting one inside the cabinet (and giving up valuable storage space) may be to mount the microwave to the top of the port side kitchen unit (between the two portholes). Anyone ever done this?

Pics? I have one built-in in my 2000 260DA, but I think your cabinet is slightly shorter, but similar.

No pics... boat is stored for winter. In the '04 and before 240da's there are two port windows on each side. '06 and later went to one on port side to make room for taller kitchen unit which includes microwave permanently mounted into upper section. Thinking of adding a microwave to the top of kitchen unit (presently open space) and wondered if anyone else had done that. Thanks!

Well I looked one up.
Does your's look like this?

Looks like you may have room for a microwave there. Some sort of secured platform that the microwave to be mounted to and proper wiring are key.

Similar but above burner is a storage cabinet (in place of microwave). On top of the unit is a padded shelf (between the port windows) and this is where we're thinking of mounting a MW.
