I was doing some research and found this shop in Maine that will deliver a REman 1992 merc. 350 with 2 year warranty for $1350 shipping included. It also has the timing cover and oil pan. Has anyone ever done business with these people? He tells me he sells motors to Marina's down the East Coast. Their name is Marshall Machine out of Skowhegan Maine. He deals direct so it makes sense, just wanted to see if anyone heard or did business with them.
here is their website if anyone wants to contact them.

thanks Rob:huh:

I have no experience with that shop, but my boat has a Jasper reman on the port side and runs very well. I like their warrenty and have used their transmissions in several trucks and put a long block in my old boat prior to selling it to a close friend. He has put over 200 hrs on it with no major problems, only a blown exhaust gasket from no retorquing.

I actually used this shop to rebuild the motor in my Mitsubishi. The 2.6 litter motor ran great for three years then just stopped. It was still under warrantee, but I could not find the paper work. Given I had already sunk way to much money into the truck I cut my losses and sold it to the garage it was at when it died. I never did find out what was wrong.

I am undecided if I could recommend them or not. While the motor was running I never had a problem, I never did any work to determine why the motor died. I will say he was fast and the truck was ready when he promised it would be. The motor was removed from the truck, rebuilt, and ready to go in about a week or so.

Thanks, not sure if it helps. Anyone else who has used them would be appreciated. I know they wholesale to dealers any dealers out there heard of them?
I am going to ask them who they sell to as well. Probably not making a decision till feb.

Just wanted to keep this thread alive and see if anyone else has any input on this shop. I checked them out as well. I need a 350 long block and they are a lot cheaper than going right from Mercury. Anyone have any thoughts? Get right from Merc or aftermarket?

When I had the 260 I put a new 350 long block in it. I used to rebuld engines, you cannot do it right for the kind of money they want. A few bucks more-new!!! Worth every pennie!!

Best deal in Fl.Daddios Marine (Hollywood) 2 complete replacement engines (350) 5.5K.Good people to work with

After having a reman engine crap out in 12 hours. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone with the Merc block from the start. Warranties might be good but Merc will pay for RR if you use a Merc certified mechanic. Labor any way you look at isn't cheap and doing the job twice will really, really piss you off......

I gotta go with you on this one.
The following is for my Ford 302.

Here’s a partial list of needed part to do what I would call a certified rebuild.
This is minus heads and misc consumables.

$ 340 Piston 4.030, rings, bearing kit
25 timing chain set
20 cam bearings
85 engine seal kit
50 water pump
12 thermostat
40 oil pump
50 tappets
140 distributor
20 intake gasket
$746 total + shipping from Summit

Now add the labor to grind the crank, bore the block and assemble the bottom end.
On top of this there will be the heads to rebuild and hope that the cam doesn’t need replaced.

This would be the bare minimum I would rebuild a carbureted engine for if I were doing it for myself.

At the listed price of 995 for a 302 it can't be much more than a ring and bearing job with minimal head work.
