I have a mercury 280 dynamic RIB with a yamaha 8 hp 2 stroke and thinking of installing trim tabs. Anyone here use them?

i'm sure someone will chime in, but do a search - there was a great thread on here with results of changes people made - as I remember they really worked!

Yes. Maxi Marine tabs. Here is a goofy video of them in action. (Don't you hate hearing your voice on video after you record something)

I assume you mean something like this "stabilizer planing fin" mounted on the outboard motor. We had this installed with the original purchase of the dinghy and motor, at the salesman's recommendation, so don't have a before and after comparison of the dinghy with and without the planing fin. I will say our Zodiac planes really well.

I have crappy WM tabs for my dink with a crummy little 6HP.... They helped!

I have the maxi tabs (like in the video above). Mine are 6 or 7 years old and the biggest problem is the mounting brackets. They are made so taht you can take the TABs on and off. If you are in any sort of choppy water, the top bracket keeps coming out and the tabs don't do anything then.

When you are in really flat water, they work well.

Thats just my .02
