Hey Gents, I'm just curious. I've got a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD 4x4 bought brand new. And I'm having issues like crazy with it...so far in 12,000 Miles the vehicle has 1.DEF (Diesel Exhaust FLUID) System has failed twice, 2. Computer glitches where the screens go black and erase all the radio stations, 3. Shifter cable has broken, 4. Vehicle will not shut off, 5. Vehicle does to perform to specifications in regards to the DEF system. And the list goes on. Its been to the dealer four times and they have had it for a total of 15 Calendar days so far. I'm about to lose my $hit over this. I expect better from a $60,000 Truck, and expect better of a service department, but it seems no one gives a crap these days. Any thoughts guys?:smt089

I had a freind LL 2 corvettes. It's a process. I was told recently that you have to do it before 15,000 miles but not sure if thats true. Get rid of the Dodge and buy a Chevy Duramax. Good luck with your problems.

Well, the laws vary by state. Here in AZ it has to be before 24,000 miles. And has to be the same occurrence 4 times or...they have to have been working on the vehicle for more than 30 calendar days.

Call the state attorney general's office and talk to them.

Document, document, document. make a log of when, who, where, etc. Although your lien holder cares not, send them a certified letter as well detailing your problems. Occassionally, they will increase the pressure on the dealer to resolve the issue.

With problems all over the board, you will have more issue getting it as a lemon law, your best bet is the emissions issues you have, those have mandatory long term warranties.

Sounds like you have an undocumented problem with the truck that hasnt been found by dodge before or at least not often enough to put info on their service departments system for troubleshooting and repair.I work at a gm dealer and it dose happen once in a while that a vehicle cannot be repaired because there is no known way to trouble shoot the exact problem"yet"so a band aid fix is all they can attempt, very frustrating for the mechanic .Have you went beyond the dealership level to resolve the issue? That would be your next step ,and yes document everything.

I just went thru it with a Acura TL. In Indiana you can get the BBB involved and they practically do everything including arbitration. Check to see if that's the case in Arizona. Otherwise it's a pretty straightforward process. Every state has a procedure to follow.

I won with my airbag issue but in Indiana they take the mileage divide by 100k miles and multiply it against the purchase price. In my case the process took a year and a half and I put on a lot of miles so the payout ended up being less than the car was worth by $2,000... So I traded it... A lot of time and effort for nothing and only satisfaction i got was I won the case.

Just be careful that the effort is worth the return

I had one problem Acura. It had issues from day one. After many trips, loaners, etc., I called my dealer on the way home from work and said to the owner I wanted lemon law relief. He discouraged me, saying that is very adversarial. Instead, Acura took my year old car with 25000 miles on the odometer and gave me a brand new identical model (model year also brand new), for zero dollars. I drove free, except for the obvious hassles, for 12 months. The dealer went the extra mile and I remain a good customer. Still, Acura did a great job. This deal was facilitated by the fact that I've purchased a new Legend or TL every other year since 1986. The lemon car may have been my 6th car from the dealer. I was impressed they valued my trade at 100% of the delivered price of the new car. Still driving Acuras. Wife has a 2013 which will be replaced next April.

About 8 years we bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the V8 engine, the day I picked it up from the dealer I noticed an engine miss, you could feel it shake at idle. The next day the dealer took it into Service and it went back and forth for over 6 weeks, and they couldn't fix the miss, I put calls into the local zone office and never got a call back... The dealer said there hands were tied and had to do whatever Chrysler told them to do, they were starting to talk about putting a new engine in and that's when I said NO! Get me a new Jeep! I ended up calling Detroit, Division of Consumer Affairs for Chrysler, told them they had 24hrs to respond and if they didn't I was going to place an add in the New York Times as my Wife was a VP at one of the largest advertising companies in NY then with my story and how uncooperative Chrysler was being. Well I got a call the next day and they said "what color would you like your new Jeep in?", and we did have to pick a new color as the one we had was discontinued.... Good luck!
