anyone else have this problem with sundeck

I have a 2007 searay sundeck 260.

boat is great. small issue...not sure if its common or easy to fix.

ONLY (and sometimes) if i run boat at higher rpm's (over 3500)---not even wot...just higher end of rpms....when i put boat in neutral it will be at over 1000rpms (too high) ...so when i push it in gear it bangs a bit.

normally in neutral boat at <500rpms...so barely feel the click when i put it in gear

again..this happens VERY rarely...but when it does its a pain the the ###. When i turn off engine and restart it is back to normal.

any help appreciated

Since it's a 2007 I assume you have fuel injection. Idle speed is controlled by the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Do a search on the site, lots of info. $100 and 10 minutes are generally the fix.

Most of the time (99%) the IAC valve does not fail in this manner it usually will fail causing a stalling condition. Throughly inspect the engine for vacuum leaks and none are found, it's probably time to have the electronic engine control system tested as you don't want to damage your drive by continuing to put it in gear at high idle.
Remember proper diagnosis is 85% of the job. If you don't mind throwing your money away than just go ahead and start throwing parts at it!

I never had this issue until I replaced my IAC valve. Now the engine races a bit when I pull it out of gear. It does calm down if I give it a moment. I am thinking about putting my old IAC valve back in.
