Unbelieveable! I have been dealing with Bassett boat in Westbrook, CT since August of 2006 and let me just say HORRIBLE! Everytime I take my boat up there to get serviced they wait till te last possible minute to look at what needs to be done and then call me to say that I can pick it up for the weekend, but the parts won't be in until the following week (hour and a half drive each way). Now don't you think you would take a look at the list when I drop it off just in case something needed to be orderd? Not only that, but since this is my second time having my boat serviced there I knew this was going to happen so I called and told them my speakers would be coming on Thursday (hoping they would be smart enough to put some time aside to install them), but instead I get a phone call today saying we didn't get your speakers till yesterday (which is Thursday) and we won't have time to install them today...

Besides not having the time or parts to fix things, it is all done half ass or just ignored altogether and I am told its normal. So I guess a loose captains chair or a crooked steering wheel is normal on a Searay.

I wonder if I drop another 100k on a boat if I will get better service. I'll tell you guys one thing... wouldn't drop that kind of money at Bassett seeing what I get for 30k.

Buyer beware! Good luck, I know I need it.

You are not alone, my friend. Money talks, BS walks, or something like that. If you have any other options, let your money walk. After buying a new 250, the day after my last warranty ran out, my marina didn't see me for another 7 years.

This is why I took my Dad's advise many years ago and learned to do nearly everything myself, including my first boat I now have. If you want it done right, do it yourself... I would never be satisfied with the quality of anothers repair, upgrades or maintenance.

I hear ya Matt. I bought my boat from them too, and after our discussions bout the service dept, I am wondering if I am better off going to local merc dealer in Stratford for servicing this year when it comes time to winterize and do the 50 hr service, and install the 2nd battery.

I cant say anything bad personally so far, I mean the purchase went great, but that to me is the easy part for a dealer. The service is what counts. I did call them a few times over the winter with some q's and they did answer them well. However, I have not brought the boat in for anything yet. Your experience is making me think a bit more.
