Enjoy! Wish we were going back....

We are here and the weather is cooperating! Not full at Chanplains as of today. I have seen three of my exact boat here which is unusual. Dinner at the Oar was good. I hoped to see some csr members but none so far.

Have fun,
We had a five boat raft party this year for a little over two weeks.
Make sure you hike down the Bluffs near the SE lighthouse.
Always a really neat spot..and good exercise.

Hey, dingy around and count the Honda generators in the anchorage.
On one weekend I got up to 25 before I ran out of beer and had to return to the mother ship.

F.Y.I. after a ridiculous amount of sampling and some very unscientific testing .. I/we feel that Traders at the end of Champlain's dock has THE best mudslides. The Oar is a very close second (machine not top shelf).

Wish we were back this year.

Cheers,
Mark.

Mark,

That's funny, I could not get over the amount of Honda generators, it was almost a little wierd!!! And I second your Mudslide findings!

We we are back surviving rain storms and all. I took Larry's advice from last year and went thru "the race" and fueled up in Old Saybrook, then back to Bridgeport. It was a rough ride home but everone is home safe now.

There were a lot of Honda generators which made me laugh after reading Mark's post. I will also agree that the mudslides go down like milkshakes and have a hefty re-fueling charge :).

Good call, if your going in any were on the South East side of CT from Block you are better off going through the Race, but if your going direct from Block to the South West area of CT your better off going though the Gut....
Sorry we missed you this year!
Glad your trip back was good! You really picked a good traveling day...NOT! :)

Going thru the race at high tide was not bad- maybe 2-3 footers. Once we got a mile or two in it picked up. Around New Haven we were hit by a rain storm (not sure if it is called a squall "sp") but it rained so hard I could not see the other boat I was with a few hundred feet away. Then when I look behind me I saw 3-4 waves heading my way I will admit, I was not comfortable! We idled toward the lighter sky and was able to get out of there in about ten to fifteen minutes. Now the water was churned up so the rest of the ride was full of water spraying over the bow, but not bad enough to dunk the anchor. I was able to keep around 24 mph and when I pulled into Bridgeport I was quite happy. If we left an hour later it would have been worse and later than that small craft advisories were issued.

Still had a great time - See you there next year maybe.

Mark
