yeah, that's a simple diagram missing the alternator wire that I showed in the scanned in diagram i got with the kit. All makes sense now though.

Well if you look at the schematic i scanned in, you can see a solid wire that goes from pos of one battery directly to starter.
Hmmmm, maybe you should take the boat to a local shop or MM.
Like I said.............See my post after this. Turns out that wire on the schematic was the alternator wire. Didn't realize that. Got it almost finishsed. Just need a few more lug connectors and I'll be ready to finish it up next weekend.
My thoughts exactly. For the few $ of installation costs, to me it was a no brainer to let someone else do it right and save me some time to do something else enjoyable. I was also afraid of...Hmmmm, maybe you should take the boat to a local shop or MM.
I just feel if the guy cannot understand the schematic, how in the hell is he going to be successful doing this project without a headache. BTW I am still lmao at the pic.
I'll admit I am poorly educated in the way of electronics/electrical work. Although the battery install seems easy, I know enough of myself to just let a pro do it. Same in my home. I can pretty much build a home from top to bottom, but electrical and most plumbing I leave to the pros.
Both the above can cause a wicked amount of damage if you dont know how to do it.

I know what you mean. I replaced every light switch and receptacle in my house because my wife wanted to change to white. I thought....no problem. it took me a full day to do it.

Ok then, just don't call people out unless you know what you are talking about next time. Thanks
Glockit4...Is that the system you have.. The Blue Sea Add a Battery? I just ordered one for my 220 SD. If so, I would like to know details of your installation, if possible. Also, does this let you "set it and forget it" or do you have to manually set your switch so that the starting battery is only used for starting?
Haha yeah. I replaced every socket in my old house. It was built in the 60's I think and anything you plugged into one just fell out. Thought it was going to take me about a half day but ended up taking a full one without many breaks! Also reaffirmed that you can't trust the way houses are wired up after getting shocked... always keep my elec meter handy now!
yeah, i understand the risk and have seen boats on fire, but I also enjoy doing things like this on my own. Not doing anything I'm not entirely confident about. That's why i'm here to get more info .
Whatever ya want to do is fine with me. :smt001
Just double check everything, not worth a fire or burning out other electronics. Tell ya what, even if I knew what to do, id be afraid to do it! lol. I will rebuild anything mechanized, but for some reason, any little thing on the boat besides the basic maint of oill changes and drive fluid, Im bringing it in!
Jim can you elaborate on the reliability of the Blue Sea Combiner? I like the whole kit idea and now you have me thinking.....Can you Pm me some prices? Also including wires? only need a few feet:thumbsup:The best way to do it is with a combiner and a Off/On/Combine battery switch. You will need one of these switches from Blue Sea http://bluesea.com/category/1/products/5511e
and you will need a battery combiner. Blue Sea sells an "add-a-battery" kit that includes a combiner but their combiner is not too reliable. We use the Blue Sea 5511E switch with a Yandina combiner. Here is a link to it http://www.yandina.com/c100Info.htm
