Hello,

I see a lot off 300,340, and lots off 370 and 380 Sundancers on this forum.
Also on SRO I noticed this.

I am curieus, is this model nor very popular in the USA? because I see a lot on Jachtworld.

And is there a member with a 360DA here?

By the way in Europe they call this boat a 395DA en the 380DA a 415DA this because they take LOA lenght.

Let me know!

Thanks Peter

The 360DA is a great boat. It has, however, never been very popular in the US where waterfront boat access is getting more limited every day.
The 360 is too long to effectively store in a dry stack or barn system where the boats are launced by forklifts. Most people who are ready to pay the cost for a slip just go ahead and buy a larger boat since the in water storage cost for a 380 or 410 is the same or very little more.

That is also the reason the the 340DA is so popular.....it is the largest boat that can effectively be dry stored.

Sea Ray m ust agree with this observation since the 360DA was eliminated an favor of a new 38DA for 2007 and left a void in the line between 34'and 38'

I aso think that the 360 does not offer a whole lot more cabin and cockpit than the 340. Actually because of the separate stateroom the front berth is smaller than the 340s and "feels" samller inside. The head is also still the same as on a 340. Once people went to this size vessel, they went for the 380 which is alos very popular.

Frank if you look at the data though ... the new 38 simulates the 360s hull measurements and capacities and is I think supposed to take its place. It is certainly not replacing the 380 ...

I won't argue the difference between the 2 boats, but Sea Ray is marketing it as a 38' ft DA, which is enough to get the business they were missing on the 36........perception, not necessarily fact, is usually what drives the buyer.

I think you guys are right about the reasons why this in between model is not so popular.
But I have seen that the 360 is still on the trailer in USA (see photo).
In Europe mostly the limit is already on 24feet! because of law limits and we cannot use hydraulic brake systems on the trailer :smt013 .

Alex you are right about the measurements of the new 380DA it is the same, this also because of the trend of the integrated swim platform.

But there is also a item like the shape/model/style of the boat.

I personal think that the model is very nice and different from 340 and 380 models (also nice boats!)
The same shape I think is on the 390EC model.

I think this is also the reason why the 370 was so popular, and also this boat is not easy and too long to effectively store in a dry stack or barn system.

The price difference between a 360DA and a 380DA here in Europe is also still 15% more.

Also marketing here in Europe goes further we call the 360DA a 395DA only because of the LOA.

Why do you guys think the 370 was/is still so popular?

Peter

I looked at new 36DA last year...not to purchase, but simply to look at features. A couple of things I like about the 36DA is that is has a real innerspring mattress and the have the acrylic shower door keep the whole bathroom from getting wet. Both of these items are feature we want on the next boat. We boat on a freshwater lake, where open slips are very hard to find. A 36DA or the new 38DA would still fit in my current slip.

What also is very nice about this boat is that she very smoothly and fast (10 seconds) go into full speed 31,6 knots plane. (dead rice 21degree and I have diesels (Yanmar))
I don't notice little bow rise on acceleration and a rather quick jump out of the hole courtesy of the smooth and strong diesels.

The boat gives a very stabil, safe and flexible feeling.

Hello Boltman,

I don't trailer the boat, but I find a lot of photo's on the internet from guy's in the USA that trailer a 360DA.

In the Netherlands we can't trailer this size off boat only amaricans can!!

But you need a BIG truck.

Just picked up my 2006 360 Sundancer... Boat runs great temps good water pressure good everything sounds great... Opened up engine hatch once I got in Inlet just to check to make sure all was good and heard a rattle in my starboard tranny from around 1000-2000 rpms then couldn't hear with the roar of engine... It's only in forward and between that rpm... Checked fluid was clean changed filters and fluid had 2 mechanics listen to it and they all said its normal... From what I read it's normal at low rpms not between 1000-2000 rpms... Anyone have an issue?

You should check your coupler bolts for correct torqueing. Ours came loose (twice) and on CSR I read of other instances where coupler bolts came loose and then sheared off.

PS there is a newer thread on 360s (Calling all 360 owners) that I started 6 years ago -you should check it out because there's lot of information about the 360. At one time I believe there were around 12 to 15 360 owners contributing to that thread. Many of them have moved up to larger oats and are still on CSR, including me.

Great boat. We did 100 nights per year on it, and boated year round. Never had any major mech issues. The fuel burn is high, but that's expected.

it got a bit cramped when our kids were on the boat overnight, so we went larger.

You came to the right place. This is great forum and the 360 thread will also be beneficial to you

There is a few of us with 360's :)

There are two in our marina in Old Saybrook, CT.
