anybody replace their water heater on a 280da?

Yep, its the original SeaWard? unit. It looks like the relief valve has been leaking, I had a pretty nice rust stain under it when I pulled it out.

Sorry, I don't mean to hy-jack the thread, but I was curious if I should bite this bullet.

If I had the engine out, would I just replace the water heater myself? Hmm, I think I would.

I just pulled mine out because the steel enclosure completely rotted out at the bottom, and is not repairable. It works fine electric side and heat exchanger. never leaked or failed. I have the alluminum tank and element, 6 gallon. FREE to a good home. If you tank leaks but the encosure is good...............You score.
