Sold my fishing boat and got a 2007 175 sport for the family... Still want to take it fishing but not sure where to mount rod holders? Is drilling mandatory or are there some other types of rod holders that I could potentially use?

Thanks in advance

I've used "Fish-On" rod holders on 5 different boats now. They make a mount to fit anywhere. Personally I prefer the flush mount on my side decks. Requires a 1 1/2" hole and then 4 screw holes. Neat and slick and takes only a few minutes to mount it. If you have side rails, they got you covered for that too.

Got any pics? I'm looking to mount rod holders on my 19spx but am hesitant to drill holes in the boat.

Holes are simple. Seal them and its no problem. You leave the stuff on when you sell the boat, so the holes are not visible anyway. I have 4 mounts on my Boston Whaler fishing boat, but they are on railings, so it doesn't matter. No rails on the 190 so holes are necessary.

I only have 2 pics and not really closeups. One shows the holder and pole in use. The other shows the location of the mount. When not fishing, the Fish-On mount comes off and is stored. The hole in the mount has a cover so no water can get in.

When I fish I sit on the swim pad, so I put the mount right in front of me.

That looks really good. Thanks for sharing. I was thinking mounting some type of cross bar to the ski pole somehow then mounting one rod holder on each side. Can't find any aftermarket contraption that mounts rod holders to ski pole.

Look at a Cannon Downrigger for fishing. They make a double rod holder to mount on the boom. Its likely that the diameters may be different so you might have to sleeve the pole. Not a big job. They also make many styles to clamp on a rail, though most are single mounts. I didn't go that route because I would have to take it off every time I put the cover on.
