I purchased a new 2012 Sea Ray 205 Sport about 6 months ago. Dealer told me my original order for my Sea Ray was without a trailer (dealer found boat I wanted at another one of their locations). Supposedly I received like a $500 credit for the $4,000 Shoreland’r trailer! Dealer knew I would be dry docking at their marina. Being a newbie, I didn't realize it came with boat and that they were so expensive after market. When I go to Sea Ray website it's says trailer is a standard feature. Dealer told me Sea Ray will not allow them to add on a trailer to any of their future orders. Against Sea Ray policy. I even told them I would pay the $500 plus shipping costs. The best price I could find (after market) for a new trailer is about $3,300 for exact features (not a Shoreland'r). I looked a few used ones but are old and rusty. Kind of sucks. Since it's only been 6 months, I wondered if anyone had any success getting a trailer from Sea Ray? I just want to verify with other owners it's against Sea Ray policy and no one was able to do this. Thanks!

Your best bet, short of Sea Ray corporate intervention, is to call every dealer in the country and ask if they have a trailer that works for you. It is true that as part of a deal, SR gets a great volume price from Shorelandr, you pay very little for a trailer compared to aftermarket. I would first call dealers near large lakes that may have a customer base that doesn't want a trailer and systematically call from there. Most dealers do not list leftover trailers in the online inventory. You might just find a dealer that wishes to unload the trailer you need, and we know he got a great price on it as part of the package.

Good luck

Whatever you find at a dealer plan on spending a lot more than the $500.00 "credit" you received when purchasing the boat. The dealer probably sold it for 2k+ right after you bought your boat.

Very true, but if they have an uneeded leftover they might deal better than ordering one.

In your last thread, Dennis at Peter's Marine mentioned he has one that fits your boat. I bet a hundred people on this forum would chime in that he is a stand-up guy, the real deal, etc. Since he's got it, it might be worthwhile to figure it out, It's a hike between PA, and FL, but a shipper or a road trip on your part may be about the best deal you'll get.

If you spend anytime on e-bay motors, you'll notice that there are a lot of automotive shippers. You might be able to utilize a such a service.

Great. Thanks all! I will check at all your recommendations today. Thanks again folks! Marine Max is the dealer. They know I want a trailer and they do not resale or keep trailers that people do not want. They tell buyer to sell it themselves. I hit them with all your guys advice. It's my fault I did not research the trailer beforehand and would have saved myself over $3,000 (for the trailer) by having them order the boat rather than pull from their other locations. I'm going to get on the phone and call other dealers and also the custom trailer places you folks recommended. Yes, aluminum is a must here. I really don't need Shoreland’r trailer but just need the features it has. Because boats is over 3,000 pounds I have to have the brakes and dual axels, etc. Reason - if I want to take to Keys or to Florida East Coast, I hear they will impound your boat if they catch you without. Brings the price way up, even on custom. Thanks again.

Dennis is the best way to go. He is honest and will not lead you astray.

I would buy the trailer from Dennis PLUS write a detailed letter to Sea Ray corporate about how you were conned by this "dealer".
