Any thoughts about Syria, it appears to be horrific, should the we, the U.S., just stand and watch??

D-S-D,
I am a retiree of the Army so I have conflicting view at times. My Army side says yes, but our troops are tired and I think to send them in would be wrong for them. Even though I think we could settle it down. But I am tired of giving our time, energy, money and lives with nothing in return. Return - those countries settling down and letting their people enjoy their families and life. I have been to the gulf twice and disliked it both times. I sat and listened to the Saudi King tell a very senior General that as soon as he could to get us out of his country as we were changing how his people think b/c of us. I don't think it was how they think but that they were thinking.
I do hope we go to Greece. I would love to R&R on and off one of the islands. LOL

It's a tough call and we are broke. Maybe someone, in that area, can take their oil money and hire Blackwater. Nearby countries don't seem to care or they would be there, Mike.

The UN will probably end up dragging us into it.

If it does not directly affect our security, I vote to stay out it.

Remember - most of what we fight for is for our and others interest. Not atrocities against humanity. For some reason we stay out of those. We fight for big businesses that do business in those countries or area. I like the old days we come and win we take control of the country, it's people and their assets. That's what the Kings of ole did years ago.
There is an old saying the about war - Military get medals and the rich make money. Hasn't changed.

True that.

Like 270 I am also retired from the military (24 years) and agree with him. But I think it is time to stop being the world's police and bring our boys and girls home. Let EU and the UN take care of it this time.

I have to agree with just about everything expressed....."our country is broke, the troops are tired, etc..", I was a Marine "grunt", I would be very careful about sending our troops anywhere, "been there, done that" ....Syria is no doubt a potential quagmire.....for all of the previous reasons, I don't think we are in any position to take it on....Russia and China blocked a UN resolution for a Middle East alliance to get involved....the entire thing stinks....but....man it's hard to watch and not get an urge to level that playing field....just curious to see if anyone else was feeling the same.....

Nuke the ENTIRE middle east. Problem solved!

+1 on that. Our resources and pockets are only too deep. At what point do we take a step back and look out for our own. Bring them all home.

D-S-D, totally agree. Troops are tired. Money is low. Resources are tight. China and Russia blocked b/c they want the oil from this region. Speaking of oil the oil companies are shipping USA oil overseas b/c they are getting a better price. Now who is getting it - China for sure! Countries don't wage war - big money wages war. So again I agree with you and Todd - for those of you haven't been to the region there is an old saying, "If I had a house in the Middle East and a home in hell - I would nuke my house and go home"!

We can have the UN pay the greeks to go in first.. they needs the money.. then let the frogs go in as back up.. let the French surrender.. the whole region will be overjoyed over their victory over the west problem sovled...

Who cares about those ragheads. They have been fighting for over 1000 years nothing we can do will stop it. I say stay out of it and go into Iraq and get the oil to pay us back for what we did for them.

Funny how different people look at things, some think of collateral damage and mayhem, while others think of the opportunity for freedom at any cost.
