Most divers don't own SR's, but I thought if there any spearos on the board (not from the Tampa area, 'cause you'd already know about these guys) it would be cool to show you some of the fish these guys (commercial) regularly pull from the GOM. Every time I read a post about one of their trips I keep saying "holy sh**...holy sh**...holy sh**...

Even if you don't spearfish or dive, these guys are the real thing. Discovery Channel should do a show with them and not those lame ass longline swordfishermen.

I used to spearfish off my AJ and have competed in many of the Tampa area spearfishing tournaments.... Team Headhunter is a legend around here... did you see the huge grouper Dan speared in something like 240 feet?

1980 with the self bailing cockpit is just what I need made a few rail changes to drop overside or step off swimplateform $ was right and nearby...if i spell funny its the beer...it was HOT TODAY,,

Yeah. That thing didn't even look real. I just looked on SB trying to find his post with the pics but couldn't locate it.

K-9: Just sayin' that many SR's have all that built-in seating and plush vinyl that's more suited for sunbathing and docktails. Not mine...

Plush is nice for entertaining.the older da are open to anything???NO YOU DID A FINE JOB.

I dive off my 270 and got in to spearfishing last year.

We go 25 - 30 miles out from Pensacola, FL

Best videos of spearfishing are here.

That shot where you stoned the AJ (summer 09 vid) was priceless- he didn't even quiver :)
Man, those ARS were thick... it's a shame they're endangered and all...

I dive & fish off my 240 all the time. Here are some pictures from our trip to the Keys in July. I trailer the boat form Tampa to Goodland and point it south for 90 miles.

Shot the grouper from overhead, spear came out his chin!

Goodland- that brings back childhood memories...
Lived up north as a child/teenager and talked my Dad into buying a condo on Marco over 35 years ago. Not much there at the time other than a bunch of canals and empty waterfront lots and the Marco Beach Hotel was the only building on the beach...

I wonder if "progress" ever invaded Goodland, or has it somehow stayed the quiet little backcountry fishing village I remember?

That's an ambitious crossing for a 240. Glad to hear it went well.

Goodland is as sleepy as they get.

I've made the crossing 3 years in a row, no problem at all in the 240.
