Hi all, i have recently purchased a 2001 Sea Ray 340 and the Clarion AM/FM radio does not seem to work. Any recommendations on new radio, including do i need an AMP.

Fusion seems to be the current favorite. I put one in last year and really like it. They have a couple of models depending on your price range.

You don't need to replace the amp unless its bad and want better sound.

Diagnosis the reason you have no sound. Could be as simple as a fuse.

Thank you

The amp should be behind the stereo in the cabin. Also some people added a secondary and it was located in the hanging closet.

Hello,
It depends on how much sound quality you want. I like good sounding music (at low volume). I replaced the Clarion with a Fusion head unit, a huge amp and 4 new Rockford Fosgate speakers and subwoofer in the cockpit. Total cost was...
500 Fusion
800 for the amp
600 for the speakers
350 for the sub.
800 for the install.

Fusion! Add some Bluetooth wireless remotes. You’ll thank me later.

You really need to figure out what is working and what is not. I am keeping my old clarion head Unit, I am adding high-quality JL speakers on my cruiser.

So what are these bluetooth wireless remotes? I just ordered a replacement stereo for my Clarion only because I have a dead wired remote at the helm. The original stereo is perfectly fine for me, but I'd like to play my smartphone through it with bluetooth.

If your head unit is bluetooth capable you should be able to make it work...I would call Crutchfield they are full of help and can advise if it will work on your system. They are also among the cheapest suppliers I have found.

1997 Clarion, so no bluetooth from the factory. I ordered a new head unit that has everything built in. I'd rather keep the old Clarion and find a new wired remote, but I haven't been able to.

They make wireless Bluetooth adapters that plug into either a 3.5 mm Jack or the RCA input cables on a stereo. They run anywhere from a low of $10 to 80 or $90.

I put a fusion radio in my 98 290 dancer. Added 6 bluetooth remotes at random spots and love it. Used 1 of the jacks in the back for a ipod conection and ran a usb adapter and mounted it to stereo area. Now i have several choices on music
