I'm not much of a long gunner, more of a pistol guy. But I did win an AR15 last year in an American Legion raffle. So yesterday I went out with a good friend to sight the AR and shoot it for the first time. After that he took me over to show me skeet/trap, which I've never done before.
What a riot! We did two rounds of trap and one of skeet. I fully expected to hit zero nothing. I managed 15/17 in trap and 12 in skeet. Not great scores but man that was fun!
Back to my AR...after my buddy sighted the gun I was able to fricken hit 12" steel plates at 200 yards reliably. Unreal. Absolutely insane to me. And that's with what I'm told is a "low end red dot" sight. I had no idea a run of the mill rifle could shoot like that. Really impressive (to me).
Fun times all around.
