Any of you guys admitting being dragged along to Fifty Shades?

That's because they believe it's supporting sexual violence in the home , and promoting Rape as romantic ...... Come on people, it's Hollywood and who ever believes what Hollywood puts out??? I don't that's for sure,

Typical, much ado about nothing, just media marketing brainwashing for sales, and yes I read the first book right after it came out. I could not manage to choke through the follow on books.

I can see the domestic violence calls going up after some woman proclaims to her husband to bind her, then turns around afterwards and calls the cops. Good divorce fodder for many.

Well Sir you are like the majority of folk on here and are very sensible and see Hollywood for what it is and it's purpose of just making $$$ in most cases. Hollywood has a lot to answer for with regard to moral decline etc. Unfortunately, many young people see their "stuff" and just emulate it as they think it must be okay if they do it. We have had a few employees with that mind set and it's just frightening. Classic, which they didn't seem to understand, is that being a single parent making millions is much different to being a single parent making $15 an hour.

I suspect the film is like $#i! from China too.....much like Pretty Woman...far fetched.

It's a movie for crying out loud. Hollywood is Hollywood. It's make believe land, always has been. I don't know why we continue to disparage it.

If if the Admiral wants to see it, I'll go. I think it will be a good night out.

Brit Lady , thanks ..... I agree this millinials growing up today don't have a clue as to what it is to work hard and play nice!!!! They all want what their parents now have , if they have successful parents that is... And don't want to be held accountable for anything that they do. What scare me to death is their Blame game , they take it to new heights !!!!! Shame on Hollywood for portraying sexual violence and domination as OK or the thing to do !!!! I have not scene the movie but I do listen to Christian Radio , I don't walk the walk or talk the talk , but I do know when something's bad you don't exploit it as the norm. I'm glad you spoke up as well .. Oh and don't even get me going on Employees Mind Set , I just wish mine would actually use their minds once in awhile , now there's something frightening ......

Couldn't agree more it is make believe land and that is the overriding point those of us that understand that are fine with it but it's those that don't and think it emulates true life I have an issue with. Many become desensitized to violence and once upon a time porn was considered the domain of absolute degenerates and now it's main stream ...where's it all going to end....

You nailed it Boltman! Especially the blame game don't know what happened to accountability and responsibility!

The movies may be make believe but that kind of activity isn't....it's real and does go on in 'true life' but maybe not yours. I'm wondering why digs at our younger generations are brought into every topic by a couple of you. What's the connection this time. This topic was about lifestyles that include trussed participants with spanked red cheeks and a dildo up their butt. How that leads to 'I wish my employees would use their minds' is baffling.

Oh no, the sky is falling, the sky is falling you say. How can that be....it already fell back when I was a kid according to my gandma.

I believe the movie degrades woman in general young or old. I actuality agree with Mike on this one that youth gets a bad rap many times. E.L.James is a 51 year old producer and "grey" is in a trilogy of grey novels.

She is a middle aged erotic author who has made her fantasies into a movie. I don't see Grey any different than any other soft porn movie. The story line is not unique, the bondage scenes are not original and the end is predictable. It's not a good R rated film for it's poor story line. It's not a good porn movie, nudity doesn't go far enough.

It's just not a good movie anyway you look at it. IMHO.
Kick it to the curb and see American Sniper instead.

I saw it, didn't want to but she did. I suggested sniper and I even said sponge Bob would be better. She even hated it. The best part was after the movie when I said "I told you so". Horrible movie, horrible. I did notice a lot of middle aged single women in the theater, I guess that's the target audience.

Sorry Woody I obviously didn't make myself clear the reference to being "far fetched" is not the SM stuff we all know that goes on and then some. What consenting adults do behind closed doors is up to them:) It was to the storyline the critic commented on which apparently is not that good as someone on here who has seen it said too. Plus I didn't complain about all youngsters I referred to "some" being very impressionable and believing this SM stuff might be the norm. I visited one of our offices unexpectedly and found one of our young employees reading this particular book instead of working, as she wasn't allowed the book in her parents home where she lived. When I asked her what it was about she colored up and said she just wanted to learn "stuff", so I asked her just not to learn "stuff" on my time:)

Reminds me of when I went to see the Bridges of Madison County. I went, expecting to see them blow up the bridges, load them up with dynamite and BOOM. Nothing. No explosions any where. At least a cow could have been blocked up with methane, scuffed its hoof on flint rock and gone off like a big furry grenade....but no, nothing. Waste of time.

Hear you load and clear Scott.

I thought Into The Woods was a murder/mystery, man was I surprised in the very first scene. I would have left her there were it not for the 9.50 they get for a ticket and 10.50 for the popcorn and lg coke.

Fell asleep 3 times. The most exciting event was when we were in the car for home. She knows I hate musicals.:smt021

Oh woody don't get your panties in an uproar , my connection to the younger generation was the fact that these actors and actresses weren't nowhere near middle aged , and if you've noticed , these younger people seem to act out what the see on any screen , Hense video games desensitization ..... By NO means is sexual abuse OK , and the movie has a huge push towards that belief , after all I watched a talk show with s DOM on it and even she said this doesn't happen at all even in the DOM clubs ..... There's always Dialog , contracts and negotiations first , the movie doesn't portray any of that which happens in real life ....and today's youth , if they see it on the big screen then it must be ok , like murder, rape and other crimes against women , hell even the Head of the woman abuse and rape centers is boycotting this movie , why because she says it's giving Young people the wrong ideas , funny she didn't say anything about the middle aged people !!!!! " if you can find it on Google, it must be ok" ..... Says the younger generation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my family saw it this weekend, described it as a bad porn without any sex. I will wait until its on the free movie channell, if nothing else is on.
Added, It's not her kind of movie either.

not yet, won't be surprised if i end up at theater tho. like some others, not complaining ...

Yup, we went. It sucked. I assumed it would, I read half of the first book and couldn't get through the horrible writing.

Not a complete waste of time. Didn't lose my man card by going. Didn't waste good boating weather. If nothing else, I heartily recommend you take the wife (or girlfriend or mistress or whoever). Be sure your equipment is working, because it will get their motors running, and then you can go to the boat and play "pirates and hostages".

Just for the record, I don't see how anyone who has read the book or seen the movie can claim the central female character is victimized or abused in any way. I thought she represented herself remarkably. Probably more soft porn than biting (pardon the pun) social commentary, but basically a boy meets girl romance tale framed in the context of some pretty deep psychological issues.

Your post caused me a little smile....I remember how 'A Little Nauti' got it's name.

I saw it...waste of time and complete piece of crap movie. I would have written what OldSkool said verbatim had he not beat me to it. It's not worth wasting your time even if it's free. Poor writing, stupid story line and very predictable.

It has the potential to be a good story if you switch the main character's obsession with S&M to something realistic...like drugs, greed, power, etc. The dude has underlying issues and his demons run his life....a lot of people deal with these things in real life but his "outlet" is ridiculous.

I had no idea you guys were so talented....boaters....producers....directors....reviewers.....I am a little disturbed by some of ya being sucked into such a turd tho :smt043
