Anyone in the area near Bethpage on Long Island? I am thinking of heading there by boat for a couple of days, to see the US Open golf tournament. Suggestions? Look like Oyster Bay, NY would be a possibility.
Any marina near US Open at Bethpage?

Well there are free shuttle buses from Jones beach parking lots to the main gate. Zachs Bay is right there if you'd like to anchor out and are coming in from the ocean side. From LI sound You could get a mooring in Northport at Seymours. They have dory service to town where you can get a cab.

there is no marines near Bethpage as it is located north of Southern State Pkwy. A suggestion since you are coming from RI, is to run on the south shore come in either in Jones Beach Inlet, and go to Freeport not sure what marinas have transit slips. This would put you about 15 miles away. Massapequa, Amityville might work and if so then coming in Fire Island inlet makes more sense.
If you want my advice watch it on TV, this place is going to be a zoo~!

Well I just got back from the first day of practice rounds at the US Open. I can tell you there is only one point of entry available to the public, and that is via shuttle from either Jones Beach ( you can anchor in Zachs Bay as noted above) or the LIRR station at Farmingdale. That's it. No cabs, no private cars and NO entry by foot. You MUST be screened at one of the two above locations or you do not get in. Wall to wall State troopers and Nassau County cops at every conceivable entry point. Good luck.

Hi. I was thinking of going on Monday ( if still playing ) I will be looking for tickets Sunday. I am only 2 stops away ( Ronkonkoma Branch ) So, If I can't get the better "Trophy tickets" at a decent price on craigslist I plan on going to the Farmingdale station and buying them there, if possible. Flaws anyone? John G

keeps raining and you will need a boat. I hear many of the Parking fields are flooded
