Any Lake Hopatcong boaters??

I boated on Lake Hopatcong a few times back in the 80's with a friends boat....it was crazy then......and that was before Jet Ski's were invented....must be a mad house now....especially on weekends....Barnegat Bay is getting just as crazy these days.....I acutally had a small run-in myself yesterday afternoon....I'll post about it later....

Have a safe season.....

If I remember correctly, you are Scott from the previous SRO boards. I'm a Lake Hopatcong regular and keep my boat at the Marine Max - Sea Ray dealer. I was on the lake Sunday afternoon, and passed you going under the bridge. You were heading back towards Woodport, and I was heading out to the main lake. We crossed under the bridge at the same exact time, and I yelled to my wife, "hey, that's In Deep from the old sea ray boards." We spent a couple hours on the lake and made it back in just as the rain started. My wife and I often go out on Wednesdays. On the weekend, we won't go out until late afternoon Saturday or Sunday, and by then, it's not quite so crowded, and not so dangerous. Most of the drunks have passed out by 5 PM.

We go out Thursdays and Sundays. Thursdays take the kids tubing or fishing and Sundays we just hang out in Byrum cove.
This past Sunday was pretty mellow on the lake, but its still early in the season.
See you out there

Old Home Week

Hi guys, I was on the old board as We'll Sea. I have a 240 Sundeck up at Flash. I try to get out on the weekends. I usually monitor channel 16. Hope to see everyone soon. BTW Cmp Caw is that Chuck?

Yes, it's still Chuck from the old boards. Would this be Bennet, or am I thinking of someone else?

4NOW and WE'LL Sea

HI Chuck,
How is everybody? And if I remember correctly InDeep is Scott. Hope all is good with everyone. I went to the fireworks at the lake last night. Had a great time. Coming back took an hour from Bertrands Island to the Marina (no wake). Still enjoying the 240 SD?
Regards,
Benett

We were out at the fireworks last night aswell. Getting under the bridge was a feat with all the traffic. It took us about a hour from out in front of the Jefferson house. All said it was fun. Love being on the boat any time.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everybody. Well, it looks like the three of us are still the only Hopatcong members. A colleague of mine just bought a SD 260, so I'll introduce him to the boards.

I've never been out on the 4th of July. All those boats and all that night time makes me nervous.

I was up at Lake George this weekend (no boat). The lake is beautiful and clean. Even though it was a summer weekend, the lake seemed empty. The lake is 32 miles long, and loaded with bays and coves, so even with lots of boats out, boat traffic was minimal - and safe!!! It makes Hopatcong feel like a bathtub. I vacation there frequently, and will be going up for a week in late July-early August, with boat. If you enjoy towing the boat and exploring new lakes, this is a great place to go. It's about 200 miles away, so a little over 3 hours without traffic. If you're ever interested, let me know and I'll give you some recommendations.

See you on the lake, Chuck.

Just Bought a SD 200 in North Jersey...

Live 30 minutes from Lake Hopatcong, only been on the lake once in a test boat on a weekday. How crazy is the weekend?

Depends a lot on the weather. If you've got kids and are like many other families, you often don't get your act together until late morning or early afternoon. Come 1 PM, with nice weather, the lake could be crowded. Not enough to ruin your day, but you sure must pay attention. However, there are more than a few coves and bays, some crowded and popular, and others more quiet, where you can anchor and relax. I would never ski or tube on a busy weekend, early afternoon. There's too many people not paying attention. Personally, I like to head out mid to late afternoon. often around 3 PM (maybe it's because my family takes a real long time to get our act together). By then, the lake is quieter, and traffic is less crazy. It still gives you a good 3+ hours on the water. At that time, I"m comfortable pulling a skier or tube. If you can go out during the week, you'll often have the lake to yourselves.
