Hi,

Any idea on the cost to antifoul a Sea Ray Sundancer 29 (1992), it has been in the water (Sea) for approx 3 years.

Boat based in the UK

Cheers,

This is kind of a depends question. If you have it soda blasted back to the gel coat a primer coat and two finish coats of paint and you are looking at $3200.00 US.

Sounds like you are just looking for info about having the bottom cleaned.
Not being familiar with conditions or labor costs over there, if the boat is still moving through the water after 3 years I would imagine whatever is on the bottom can be removed with a pressure washer if you get to it immediately after you pull it out of the water.
If you spent an hour doing it on a 29’ boat it would be about right. That’s how long it took me to do my old 300 Sundancer from start to finish.
The crap we get on our bottoms around here comes off really easily if you get it as soon as the boat gets lifted up, if you wait it, gets harder. If you wait a long time it starts to become very difficult.
We usually do it at the end of the season. If it’s a situation where the owner is pulling their own boat, or having a boat hauler pull, trailer, and block up their boat for them they generally do it themselves.
If you are going to pay someone to pressure wash your boat then it should cost about whatever they charge for an hour of their time.
If a Marina or Boatyard is doing it around here then they usually include it in a per foot price that covers hauling, pressure washing, blocking it up, and relaunch when the time comes next Spring. Those prices can be all over the place depending on the type of boatyard or marina, or where it is located.
Naturally, you would want to have a fresh coat of bottom paint applied before re-launch. Forma boat your size you’d probably pay a boatyard about $10 USD a foot around here.
If you are looking to have the hull blasted and coated as WV 320 describes, then his price is a good ballpark figure.

The boat is being moved via a lorry to another marina so will be pressure washed immediately after lifting.
Once the boat arrives at the new marina I want to have it antifouled before dropping in the water.

The boat has not been to sea for approx 3 years, just left in the marina and there looks to be a lot of seaweed ect hanging off the hull and propellers (I am the new owner)

The price for an antifoul over there in the USA seems to be much higher (Like twice the cost) then here in the UK (I've been doing some additional research)

I thank both of you for your replies.

Mine costs about $400 annually. I can’t do it myself in my yard so that includes paint and labor. My boat probably needs 3/4 -1 gallon.

Expect some prep work based on your description.

I had my bottom blasted last year and that was $1100. I then applied epoxy barrier coat myself. (2 gallons needed for that.).

Who blasted your bottom?
Had mine done by the dealer up in Connecticut as a condition of sale two years ago. Came out great. They barrier coated and bottom painted it before I took delivery. Only used one gallon of bottom paint on my 410 before I launched last season.
Now I want to get it done on my Uncle’s 22’ boat. He’s blocked up on his own property, so that isn’t an issue.

I used RestoraBlast. They used recycled glass for the blast media. I was quite pleased with the results. A few gelcoat voids were exposed from the blasting which I repaired. They don’t do painting so I did the barrier coat myself vs pay the yard.
